Looks like the area around sock hole in the waning salmon season... Only not as desperately seeking salmon.

The guy seems so stupid he might not even know he's snagging ! According to him, he's like almost a state champ or something.
I used to have me a couple of rods like that, at least I knew I wasnt fishing. lmao.

this is how the guy describes his day.....

"Catching red salmon on Kenai River. Salmon were biting like crazy but my hook was too small so they kept coming off, but I managed to catch one and capture it on the camera. I caught six in total in about 15 min."

Ohh yea they were biting like crazy....you A$$

not to be an arse but whats wrong with rubber waders????
my father still uses the rubber hip boots and he's not a lifter/liner.
also whats the big deal with the rod?because someone doesnt have a hundred bucks to spend on a rd he/she cant get the respect from other people out fishing?i know when im on the olcott peirs i use a cheap med action rod because i know it will snap if i get into something big and id rather snap 2 or 3 15-20 dallor rods a season compared to a 100 dallor rod.
yea this particular nim wit is a lifter.

Nothing wrong with rubber boots! Nothing wrong with inexpensive equipment. Something very wrong with thinking your rod will snap if "I get into something big" if you learn to set the drag properly you can fight a sailfish on 20 pound test so a salmon should be no big deal! Now if your using 30 pound test and tightening down your drag because you are trying to pull a fish backwards through the current that might be another story.

the heaviest i use while casting spoons is 12,try turning a 25 pound king silve as a steelhead in the open lake with a 12 foot light action rod:D ive tryed it with 10 pound test and watched my 80 dallor rod snap at the handle.:fishing2:

Somethings not right if your snapping $80 dollar rods with 10 pound test. Are you gripping the rod above the handle? I think the problem may be in the "trying to turn them", let them run and let your drag do the job. If they are going to spool you point your rod right at them and break em off. Either way you should not be breaking rods. Can it happen once in a while, certainly, but if you are consistently breaking rods you are doing something wrong. Sorry, just my opinion. :D

i snapped ony 2 this fall 1 was my fault and the other one was from a kid stepping on it why i was unhooking a fish :fishing2:
the only time i put my hand above the cork is when i go to get them since most of the time im out there by my self.

Quite pathetic. Back when it was legal, I was pretty good at it. But Alot of guys couldnt figure out how to even snag a fish much less hook them in the mouth.
Hook a fresh 30 lb. king on 50 pound test with about 10 feet of line out, drag clamped down. nothing quite like it.
Of course alot of guys will cringe and I got devil horns for saying something like that  :blah: :blah: .
I can't see a ethical bias, hooked in the mouth is somehow better then being hooked in the side ? I'm obsessed with hooking fish in the mouth now. No matter how you look at it the fish are there for one reason, to be caught and hopefully support the economy enough to justify a hatchery and it's improvements. By the way I totally support catch and release, but when it comes to King salmon it's a resorce that could be better utilized.

Oh the days of old. Fishing with a telephone pole and steel cable. You guys got one thing right this guy stinks at snagging. I was hoping he'd hook the camera on one of his back casts (ha) and throw it in the river. Now that would have been funny!

TaKe a chill pill dude... I use a $50.00 Ugly Stik flyrod..and ive broken quite a few rods ranging from $40.00 - $350.00.. But when you see a guy with a 6' boat rod and rubber waders with no korkers or felts .... 9x outta 10 he isnt using eggs or flies in a traditional way...He's snagging...Just like the movie star lifter..lol

he is really awful. The town pool rippers would have had five of those little bastages on the bank in the amount of time it took this guy to get his fish.

I have been to the Kenai River and it is much worse then Pulaski. They have buses drop people off and on the way out the door they hand them white rods with sponges rigged up. It was a zoo up there.

I'm surprised he didn't end up w/ one of those blue fox tube flies in his face. Just the fact that he had his drag set that tight tells me he was lifting. But come on guys...you shouldn't stereotype fisherman based on their waders or the fact he's spin fishing. We're not all "orvis boys". I spin fish and don't lift..it's kinda hard w/ a balsa float on the line.
