From what I have heard his deed shows he owns to the center of the river...
I just fish elsewhere around that area..

Just some info for you guys, The village and town are trying to make a riverwalk trail from the black hole to the haldane trail they just got a grant to research and make the designs. My understanding is that the high bridge area you mention is the only land area they are having a problem with. Maybe the trail development will solve the problem. The down side is that it could take a few years.

by the way, I'm not familiar with that area. Could someone let me know where this is, exactly. I don't wanna be fishing there by accident and get in any trouble or anything.

The Dentist owns a section in town on the northshore between the short bridge and the high bridge. I think he has posted signs up. It's only about 2 spots to fish I use to fish it and found a great small pocket water that would hold lots of chrome.

My take is that the guy doesn't want anyone on his land--his right. Why do we(as a whole) always try to find ways around things???The guy doesn't want people there stay away real simple in my eyes.

Has anyone asked the guy if they could just get permission to use access to his land? Might just be that simple

I heard on another forum site that he was attempting to extract money for fishing in the river behind his house. I fully support efforts to legally deny his right to claim ownership of the streambed, though I don't like it when municipalities take peoples homes. This is different. He doesn't live in the river. The fish do and our taxes allow their continued existence for sport fishing, which contributes enormously to the local economy.
Having said that, I think we all should endeavor to cease being a bunch of g-d--mn pigs and quit littering the river with coffee cups, empty bait wrappers, beer and soda containers, and also attempt to retrieve spent monofiliment whenever we can. Our behavior can go a long way toward reconciliation between sport fishermen and landowners along the river.
