In todays paper I found an article talking about deer on staten island which is very rare. Supposedly we have a population of a bout 40 deer. Theres one nice 8 point that would be down if he was in my scope.
Heres the article......

Forgive my ignorance, but if it's illegal to hunt in the 5 boroughs, and you'd take the deer, "if he was in my scope",
then do you also bait fish in the fly section, snag on the SR, etc.... ?
Not to be ignorant or start a fight, but I find it funny that we would catch and release fish, especially if caught where they are rare, ie making a comeback, yet you'd drop this a deer cause he has 8 points.

Delarob, I think what crazyegg is saying is if he would have seen that 8 point while hunting he would have shot it. Crazyegg is not saying he would take the deer illegally. I would have also shot that 8 point if I saw him in the woods. Come on don't try to imply Crazy is out doing illegal things. You need to chill out.

Speaking of chill out....
I didn't accuse him of anything. His post says nothing of shooting it elsewhere, rather "There’s one nice 8 point that would be down if he was in my scope."
I had a post deleted a couple of weeks ago because someone took it wrong. Without the benefit of direct face to face, postings are subject to many interpretations.
:slap: I'm sorry I retorted in a vague manner. Let me rephrase...

The way your article "sounds", it would appear that you would draw down on this fine specimen in a restricted zone merely for the collection of its majestic rack. I'm sure you would not be the type of person that would illegally kill this beautiful beast so if you wouldn't mind, could you please, for my benefit and others whom may innocently interpret your posting incorrectly, re-enforce that belief? On a side note, I also have no doubt that you make fine jerky and or other tasty venison products from the harvest and if I ever get the chance, do you think it possible I may taste said culinary delights? Thank you and again, please excuse my obvious oversight in your intended posting.

Dude, are you kidding me? We all know what the kid meant. You need to get out and fish. In reality, if he really wanted to take a deer in an urban area he would have mentioned using a bow.:D :blah: :blah: :blah:

All i meant when i said....I would shoot that deer if he was in my scope was that if i saw that deer were i hunt (which is about 4 hours from the city) in the proper season i would shoot him. I have no intention of breaking the law because if I did that would hurt my chances of becoming a conservation officer which is really what i want to do. I guess i should of specified it better but i thought you would of knew what i meant.....

Hey Egg-
I grew up on SI and went to Wagner College in the late 80s. I remember a classmate telling us that he almost hit a deer on the west shore Xway near Travis one night, we all laughed at him. Razzed him unmercifully! The kid was some hillbilly from PA so he knew what a deer looked like. I guess it could have been true...
On Grimes hill between Wagner campus and the SI Xway there are lots of ring necked pheasants too, or were when I was there.

I think it would be a pretty serious crime to shoot a deer, becuase in my town your not allowed to hunt and there were reported shots fired in the woods and there were cops from all around that came to take part in the man hunt for the poacher. But what you do I know it could have been self defense http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJUvLInmo0U

Jersey sport....yeah I know there are alot of pheasants in gateway park but never saw one on grimes hill. when my brother would ride his horse by the west shore express way(theres a lot of riding trails by the express way) he would always come home saying he saw some does and maybe a buck or two.He always said there deer are skinny though but from that picture it doesn't look that way.
