View Full Version : Creek Fish Don't Count & Please Stop with the rod in the mouth pictures

1.) Fishing in small creeks for browns/steelheads is a joke. They do not fight half as hard and it is like shooting fish in a barrel. From Monday to Wednesday we caught more browns/steelhead from 6-12 lbs then I will probably ever catch in the salmon river. I won't even post pictures unless someone can photoshop me next to a larger body of water. If someone catches a "Trophy" in a creek that you can almost jump across, 5 lbs should immediately be deducted from the weight of the fish.:) I will never brag about a creek caught fish.....too much of an unfair advantage.

2.) Fly rod in the mouth pictures have to stop. They are out of style and people look like fools trying to bite down on the cork of their rods so they can look cool on the internet.

Not trying to stir trouble or be a wise arse....just some observations/thoughts that crossed my mind on the ride home Thursday. :)

A tributary is a tributary, big fish and small fish alike go into all of them. It is luck of the draw. I agree with the fly rod in the mouth thing.

Cmon man!!, a fish is a fish, not matter what body of water you got it in. If you are SNAGGING them in a small stream it is unfair, but if you are seriously fishing for them in a small stream what is the big deal.

I am actually glad you don't enjoy fishing the small streams because that means one less person on these streams.

Banner your "Big Water" steelhead and I will Banner my "small water" steelhead...

So what would you suggest is the proper way to pose with a fish??

First off, I agree with Hizzy, Stay in Jersey. You give all the good people from there that enjoy this area a bad name. If creek fishing is such a joke, why did you subject yourself to it for 3 days? Or did it take you that long to actually catch a fish there? Maybe we can get one of the Pro's here to photoshop a few real fisherman with rods in thier mouths holding a beautiful fish, wearing an I'm with Stupid T-Shirt with an arrow pointing at you standing in middle. I doubt I will be the one and only person, who may find fault with your Obvoiusly well thought out Post:confused:. May you get jockitch and a hangnail.

snagger: good one. if you drive a truck that has the license plate bearing the same name we actually exchanged pleasantries at fat nancy's one afternoon.

the hatred towards Jersey makes me chuckle......please keep the NJ insults coming. I will be sure to laugh at you guys when you visit the beach in cut off jeans, flanels, tube socks and work boots. :)

seriously though....once again...I was just kidding around. I enjoy everything that has to do with the Lake Ontario region. I just saw alot of cowboy bravado at some smaller creeks this week that made me laugh and I thought it would be fun to put up a hack post. If it truly insulted anyone then I apologize.

Oakey,
Nice post, man. I admire your stones. You have stirred up the natives. They get a little sensitive around here.
How about the photos of the beat up mud-sharks or the guys practically raping a small steelhead in the mud while proudly displaying a "Salmon Crazy Steelhead tournament" banner.
Seriously, there is some serious inbreeding going on in that gallery. Funny stuff.

Tommy,
I was talking more about fishing, surfing etc. I do not think bars make the beach.....maybe for you but looking at the list you mentioned you are one of the guidos that hang down here in the summer. Please tell me you do not shave your armpits and legs like the rest of the jackasses that hang at those bars. For those of you who are not following what I am saying

I happen to think that the man is right, although I'm not quite sure how we could distinguish any two fish caught from large and small tribs...fishing to a "captive audience" is one way of doing it,and fishing the big waters is another...BTW 2400 IS HE-MAN WATER!! Lets cross @ the tail...!!

Tioga County....isn't that where the famous Hunting Preserve is...the place where you can shoot an African Lion chained up for 10K....Or shoot a 12 point buck in a 1/2 acre paddock for 3K? Talking about sportsmen....you should be proud of what your area has to offer

I can only assume that the fish were legal. I was using a float and egg sacs, and all but a few were hooked in the mouth.

Both large and small waters have there own set of problems to overcome to be successful. Larger waters may be harder to read, find fish and get your presentation correct but smaller streams especialy when talking steelhead require steath, light tippets and less room for error in presentation.

Either way a legaly caught large fish is a trophy no matter where its taken and trophy means different things to different people.
