If you could only have one set-up, (rod and reel combo) to fish the tribs. what would it be? I end up filling my truck with stuff on every trip; I'm hoping your opinions will help me lighten the load. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds. Oh yeah this is for all seasons and water conditions.

I have to drive too far to chance going with only one rig but I know what you mean. For me its fly rod with a back up 9' 8# or 9' 7# and 11' noodle rod with a shorter medium action rod for backup. Presently all my reels still fit in my tackle bag but I'm thinking about upgrading to a suitcase. I keep my waders boots vest and all my outer layer clothing in a medium size rubber-maid container. I can load the car in three trips max. (from house to car) and be on my way.:fish: :fish: :fish:

the quick answer? The one I am most confident with. The the MOST effective weapon in any anglers arsenal is confidence. Being confident with a bunch of different set-ups/systems of fishing is what seperates the great fisherman from everyone else. I presonally run a 9.5 ft rod with heavy mainline and a baitcaster. I run floats exclusively with this set-up, and it works GREAt. If I am flyfishing, I usually stick with my 7st with weight foreward floating line, deadrifting nymphs or egg patterns. Those days are rare now since I've succumed to the dark side of the float......
