Heading up Wed AM

Looking for info on the "how to" fish in the high water...used to 350 or 750 but never in a 1000...I guess it will still be near the 1000cfs mark or better...Done most of my time either in the DSR or the Ballpark...or the UFZ or LFZ...just want to know if I should stay up from I81 or go back down low and hope...Don't get me wrong I enjoy the trip but have made it a few times and missed the big runs but by the sounds and photos the fish are in the river so just being there is a plus...if anyone has any decent info on a spot(s) to try I am all ears...

Just fish closer to shore with a little stronger line. If you use 8lb leader go to 10lb 10 to 12 you'll get em. Fish the tops of the holes that way you can play them out in the holes.

you said you fished the fly zones? I would start there and take the advice from the gentlmen above.

you definitely dont have to cast out far, hooked all my fish about 5-10 feet in front of me all day saturday

Don't cast out too far. The fish will be right in front of you. I couldn't tell you how many times last weekend I found myself creeping more and more into the river. I would have to take a few big steps back and then I'd be hooking up again. Also, you are going to have to make continued adjustments with the amount of weight you use and what lb test. WE used 10-12 lb all weekend long in 1000 - 1100 cfs. Conditions on the river will constantly change.

As far as timing you picked a great weekend. You'll have a ton of action. Good luck.

I was always told fish where you normally stand, but that was in 3000.
Also, I heard why play on the highway, when you can roll around in the grass(Stillreelin)

Thanks for all the info fellas...I had to delay 1 day but not a problem now it will be Thur and Fri both...

Time to lose my virginity to the high water...just don't want to get wet...but hey if it happens then I will enjoy the ride...
