As a school teacher, the recent shooting are very disturbing!! The bad part of all this is, the coward who performed these acts didn't even have the guts to face the system. He took the easy way out by capping himself. If he wanted to do that, why take innocent lives. Go out in the woods and take care of business, but don't take the lives of innocent people.

I think its time to get guns back into the schools. There is no good reason for us to be gun scared in this country. I carry, my friends carry alot of my customers carry, hell half the poconos carries. You just dont F around with people because you never know.

This country is falling into chaos fast, terror from the outside, terror from the inside. The only people who are not intimadated by all our gun laws and anti gun/hunting PC left wing garbage is those you choose to carry and use guns legally.

And the rest of the country reads this crap in the paper and become even more convinced that guns kill people and try harder to take them out of the hands of law abiding people.

Sorry rant over

I am an independent that I quess is a middle of the roader with SLIGHT leaning to the left but anybody that thinks taking guns away from law abiding citizens is nuts in my book. The only winners there are the criminals that will still have guns. Enforce the laws to a point where criminals a afraid to get caught with a weapon and leave the RIGHT to bear arms alone.

Only wasted if we dont learn and make changes for the situation. No body should have to die, but I would say we are much safer becuase of the sacrifice people made on that sept day:(

Back during the era of the Columbine shootings there was a stabbing incident in Japan that was Absolutely Horrific. WAAY worse as far as human lives wasted. But, it was done with a knife, and not a gun. The media never mentioned it. My friends father wrote a letter to the editor of the Baltimore Sun asking why, if they are so concerned with tragedies, both local and international, they didn't cover it... Well, they never answered him.

My opinion: We are obsessed with regulating in this country, thinking that every new law is somehow going to help. What it winds up doing instead is hobbling our good citizens' right to take care up for themselves. It's a growing trend, and it's very disturbing. Ban everything and seal us up in bubbles Big Brother, then we'll finally be safe:rolleyes:

My prayers go out the victims.

A good read is More Guns Less Crime by John Lott. Good amount of stats and facts. Our kids and future generations need to be taught respect and accountability, especially respect for human life. It all starts at home and some at school. Parents need to toss the video games and spend time with their kids. Teachers are overburdened with teaching to the test and covering their backs from administrators. Ok Rant Over.

Having more or less guns is irrelevant to suicidal maniacs - you are only kidding yourself if actually believe having more - or less guns - would solve this problem.

Tiderunner nailed part of it - regulation - OVERregulation is OVERprotection... it is a policy that will eventually fail b/c you can't protect against everything. The more you protect, the more you are insulating yourself from dangers and others. The more separated you are, the less likely you feel a connection to society around you... you can see the circle... this is way over simplified, but truely psychotic people are almost always described as - [they] kept to themselves...

An even better read is On Killing: by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman (http://www.amazon.com/Killing-Psychological-Learning-Kill-Society/dp/0316330116/sr=8-2/qid=1159892059/ref=sr_1_2/104-2442036-1223919?ie=UTF8&s=books). I know awards may not mean much, but the book won a Pulitzer Prize and was on the NYT best seller list for quite some time. It's still recommended by Military couselors to be read by families of soliders, so they can understand some of what it is like. It broadened my views on whats wrong with our society, if you read it it will change yours too.

And if you doubt my recommendation, click the link and look at all the military personnel and police officers who took the time to write a review on Amazon.com - out of 125 reviews - not one speaks badly of the book overall (although some do bring some critiques).

Also The Seven Myths of Gun Control. By Richard Poe, it's a great one that I still haven't read unfortunately. It was recommended to me by a good friend, and I've actually given it as a present. That's how much I trust his reccomendations. Now I just have to read the thing:o
