Anyone have one? Any reviews? I have a digital camera, but when I bring it up there it's in a ziplock and then it's a pain to get it out and I'm worried about it going in the drink. Thinking about getting a waterproof one and looking for any Salmon Crazy reviews.

I have a Pentax Optio W10. It's a 6 MP camera and is totally waterproof.

I really like it. You can set the camera to whatever resolution you want (2 through to 6 MP), it takes great pictures inclusing underwater shots and the macro function is the best I have seen on any camera.

I would recommend it to anyone. I got a good deal on mine through Amazon coupled with a 1 GB card. This was last March so I don't know if that offer still stands.

Gebby,

I've been going over this forever. I still haven't made up my mind, but I'm leaning toward the Olympus.

I really like all the features of the Pentax, and I thought my mind was made up, then I started looking at the Olympus; mainly because it's higher waterproof and shock ratings. It also has a number of photographic features that the pentax lacks. That's only a big deal if your into modyfying the settings and looking for more than point and shoot.

I think the shock rating is really the greater issue here. The only reason I want the waterproof camera is in case I drop it. What good is being waterproof if it doesn't survive the fall?

Kodak has just come out with a waterproof 35ml that is good up to 50ft
under water. You buy it for around $15 from any drugstore or Walmart.
I'll be giving mine a workout all next week.

Is there a flash on that one Griz? We bought waterproof, disposables last year, but with the sun rarely seen, most pictures did not turn out that well.

I'm pretty sure this one does. I'll check it out when I get home. It also has a
"shock resistant" casing. Best disposable I've seen yet. I dig the fact I can
do some underwater shots with it!

I dropped my Pentax Optio 43WR off a bridge on a FL trib, into the creek. Probably 20-25 feet down. It landed with a loud crack. Camera still works great, it didn't work at first but I let it dry out (I think the casing popped open and let water in) and now the only problem is the clock battery acts a little funny. How's that for schock rating?

Well would'nt ya know it.Never had a problem with getting the camera
wet untill after reading this thread.
Slid on a angled piece of slate while out today into a hole that put me under water up to my shoulders.Camera was soaked.Seemed dried out when I returned home.Fired it up and it was ok for a moment. Then it started doing some strange things so I shut it down and took out the batteries.
Any suggestions? Could it need some more time to dry out or is it a gonner?

Put your wet camera in a bag of dried rice. The rice takes the water out and retains it, it helps and this trick has saved my cell phone multiple times. Better hurry up before it is damaged thou

Hi Gebby ... a nice discussion with pix on the Ohio reports section of the Steelhead site ... worth a look (as is the Optio w10 or w20 apparently) -- Cliff
