What was your best day ever on the SR like? Weather conditions, flow, and of course your catch.

My best day was last year 4/29. Took a Center Pin class. Paid 20 bucks, got to fish some real good water, learn a few tricks, great lunch provided, went back fishing saw my bud catch his first steelhead on the pin, got into a few myself and went back to the hatchery for pizza/wings and a great presentation from Fran and LOSA.

All days fishing on the SR are great, or the other tribs, best days usually in October for salmon when the weather is crappy. I remember a couple of Columbus Day weekends in the DSR when it snowed and we had to recover our sore arms at the bar with a few Heinekes for a while!:D . Last year Col Day Sunday was great. It rained with 900 cfs, tons of fish Kings Cohos and Browns. Tough to land the fish though. Best days for steelhead March in a major snowstorm, last Easter weekend combination of rain early then the sun came out. Great day nothing big but good action.
Seems most really memorable days were with lousy weather--also broken rods, newbies swimming, car accidents, flat tires. Lots of great memories.
If you were on the DSR this year for the early Coho run you have a different opinion!:)

Don't post numbers Goat. Then everybody would call you a liner, lifter, roper, snagger or goon and start a petition and crusade to albany to change the current fishing regulations. :D

Snag wasn't even there. That day I got a few fish very late in the day. I went skunkville for most of it. :o Still had a blast and drove home relaxed with a smile.:)

My best day was last year in November. I went 5 for 5. 3 nice Steelies and 2 Browns. It took me 6 years to have a day like that and come to think of it it was a pretty nasty day. I guess lets all pray for some nasty days soon.

No Doubt '01. We landed 81 (yes - 81) Kings in 3 days. Busted off at least twice that many. 40 landed on Thursday alone. My forearms were all cramped like I had CP by noon. And there were some HOGS in that bunch. It was literally a fish on every cast or at the most every other - never had another day like it, and it was 70 degrees and sunny to boot. My friend brought 15 Yr. old Laphroigh single malt scotch and some cohibas from Cuba that day too. Undoubtedly one of the best days of my life.

My best day was the weekend before Thanksgiving 02. Was fishing Altmar area and hooked more steelies over 10lbs in 5-6 hours of fishing that I could count. landed 4 of them. Had some reel screamers on too. One guy came up to me and asked if I hooked anything under 15lbs today. It was unreal. My dad even got into a few.
Another one...
Brought a salmon river virgin up last May and fished with Gottum 1 day. The following day went to Paper Mill. Set up the fly rod and walked him out, showed in where to stand. Proceded to cast to show him where to cast to. First cast... Fish on. One of my first times teaching someone/ showing them the ropes. Made me feel like I actually know what I am doing sometimes.

My favorite day was last year at the DSR. I think it was 9/02 and the water was 750 CFS. The weather was sunny 70 degrees and blue skies...
My brother and I each got into fresh hard fighting kings that took us into our backing..We lost alot more than we landed but it was a great day especially to start the season out on...

It was about 10-12years ago. I been coming up for a few years before that. I finally get me dad to go. So we are at the Oswego River at first light. We watch the salmon coming up the fast water jumping as we do. So it's time to fish and my dad on his very first cast hooks this steelie in the 12 lbs class. It comes rocketing out of the water and flip him the fin and is gone. The smile on his face was ear to ear. After that he wanted to go every weekend.
