Dear Supporter,

Recently, a large wildfire, which originated on Fort Indiantown Gap (the Gap) owned land, went out of control and spread to parts of Stony Valley. Coincidentally, the land that the Gap has been trying to obtain was the portion of Stony Valley that burned. It is important to note that no news of this fire was released to news media. To learn more about the fire visit http://www.savestonyvalley.com/gapfire.htm (http://www.savestonyvalley.com/gapfire.htm). There you will find photos, a map and additional details.

We would like to invite you to our next meeting, June 13, 7PM, at Nino’s Cafe in Grantville, on route 443 about one mile east of the racetrack. We look forward to seeing you there.

Thanks to the collective voice of thousands of supporters, many elected and appointed officials have taken notice of the need to protect and preserve Stony Valley. Members of the Stony Creek Valley Coalition, Governor Ed Rendell and Fort Indiantown Gap (the Gap) representatives have met together to discuss the possible terms of a land lease agreement between the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) and the Gap. Ultimately, the Gap wants to lease between 1,000 and 2,000 acres of land from the PGC.

There are many crucial points to this negotiation, such as the construction of a fence, protection from damage (such as the recent fire), loss of access via Cold Springs Road, increased noise, restricted use and more.

We have one chance to protect this precious land, because once it’s gone, we cannot get it back. To easily send emails, visit http://www.savestonyvalley.com/sendemails.htm (http://www.savestonyvalley.com/sendemails.htm). Every voice counts and we need your voice now. Your help is sincerely appreciated.
