Hi, I know this not a salmon, or steelhead, but I wanted to post it anyway.

Ramapo River in NY. 6/17. Taken on an ultralight 5ft rod with 6# power pro and 4# flourocarbon leader. I use a sliding float (w/ bobber stop) setup so I can get the bait down to the bottom even though I'm using a short rod.

I wanted to post this here, because I started float fishing as per advice from guys on this board as a good way to catch steelies. Turns out its a great way to catch fish period.

This fish was 23 inches and 5.5 lbs.

We ate half of it sashimi style w/ soy sauce and wasabi. Was really tasty (if you like that sort of thing). Meat was dark red like really lean salmon.

Is that raw- like sushi?
Well I'd think twice about doing that again-
:scared: Not so good for you w/ fresh water fishies.
Just what I've been told-
maybe I'm wrong

We don't need to worry about it. We can tell it was dead. I watched other sites battle about keeping fish and C&R. You buy your license and are entitled to keep fish. Whether you do or not is your decision. :rolleyes2:

Still a nice fish!! I can't beleive you ate it raw!!
