I just go my fish back from the taxidermist and It doesn't look any thing like the fish that I brought him, I gave him a good quality picture of when the fish was caught. He did a good job it just doesn't look any think my fish. The body and colors are total wrong.

Well its on the wall now, I caught a bigger fish this year any way and released it because it was a spawned out hen. I'll have to get a bigger one and the next one for the wall is going to come on the pin.

Find a good taxidermist before you catch the fish... I had the first SR brown I'd ever caught done by Maggie Rathje of Fish Wish in Pulaski. http://www.fishwishco.com/ She does an awesome job... Maybe she could even fix up yours Scotty, worth a shot...

I would give it back to them and get my money back or have them locate your fish. Definately don't pay the balance! Please post the name so others know who NOT to use.

Here's how my brown came out... Not that big by Lake O standards, but it was my first time ever fishing the salmon river, was only expecting kings or maybe a coho, and it was bigger than any brown I'd ever seen in my life LOL(16yrs old)...

Any "decent" taxidermist should repaint or touch-up your mount if you're not satisfied. I gave a local taxidermist a half-dozen pics of a chromer I got 4-years ago and he gives me back this "thing" that was most certainly my fish, but all frigged-up in regards to the paint job.

After having it hang on the wall for a week I couldn't take it anymore, so I called him and told him I wanted it redone (if possible) and this time use the pics as a paint guide. He said no problem and it was done in 2-days...no charge. After he made good on the paint scheme the thing looked fantastic...sometimes these guys get so busy they forget whose stuff is supposed to look like what and just paint a whole bunch of fish at once.

The "best" natural taxidermist artist I know of is Warren Smith from Preston, NY. He's done trout, steelhead, male coho and male brownie for me...and they look better than when the fish was caught. Other than that, a fiberglass repro might be your best bet next ime around.

No question go with Maggie @ Fish Wish Taxidermy. I have known her for years and she does great work. Whats really nice is that she is only 100 yards from my house.:) She has lots of work at several Gander Mountains in the area as well as Cabelas in PA. If you are in to Woody's Tackle just in front of her shop, you can see a Big Brown & Steelie that she has done for me in the past few years. Just walk in and look up to your left. I am also waiting on my second Deer Head mount from her too. I know LIL & others on the site have had fish done by her before, and have nothing but good things to say. And she is done with your mount in 11-14 months.

Take it back man!! There is no doubt they can re-do it. My buddy is a taxidermist and I had him re-finish my one fish 3 times.

I had a brownie mounted a few yrs ago as that came back with silver coloration, which made me mad, because the one i gave him had a real unique spot pattern and coloration on it. I called him up and demanded my money back or that he re-do it for no charge. I sent it back to him and didnt pay a dime for shipping, etc.
