really does go around.
25 years ago i was listening to ACDC, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, etc. Just today i loaned my kid $11 so he could buy the Black Sabbath "Paranoid" CD, he's adding that one to all of his other ACDC cd's. i forgot, he's even got a Judas Priest CD. am i showing my age?
seems that that's what 12 year olds are listening to today. it's a shame i don't have a record player anymore. he's got to give Iron Maiden a listen!!
kind of funny too, i am just getting into Dr. Dre. i missed that whole rap era growing up. anyone else having a mid life crisis? :p

Well, that is not until my 6-year old daughter begins to throw tight loops on the fly rod this spring! LOL I know I'll do my best not to  when she wraps the line around my head or whacks me between the eyes :faint: with the fly rod!!! But I most certainly be :woohoo: when she drills her first good trout and says..."Daddy, I love this!!! When can we go again!!! :) "

Hey,
My son was the all time hard core metalhead a few years ago. When he was 14, he started to want to go to concerts. Remembering what concerts were in my day (the 60's) , I decided to chaperone. I listened to some terrible music - Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth to name a few of the more memorable groups. He and I are both musicians, and I took a chance on taking him to a Government Mule concert when he was 16. The lead guitarist for the group is just great , plays for the Allman Bros. and The Dead now, I guess. Anyway, seeing this guy's virtuosity turned him away from the really discordant music to the blues, rock, jazz, etc. It was tough going for awhile, but worth the effort. We can actually listen to the same stuff without me having cotton in my ears or him complaining of boredom. And yes, we went to Ozzfest last year, and I wasn't the oldest guy there either...I think Ozzie was.

Warren Haynes... Yeah he's pretty damn good. I used to be into the metal scene in high school too. That was until I started to listen to my parents' Floyd, Zeppelin, ACDC, Cream, BB King, Muddy Waters, Skynyrd, Neil Young, and countless others records... Good music is timeless, but unfortunately the music industry is no longer about putting talented musicians on top where they belong... American Idol embodies today's music industry. You could be the best singer in the world, but if you don't have the look you might as well stick to singing in the shower. I could get on stage and fart into a microphone for 2 hours and put on a better show than Ashlee Simpson or that gay dude Clay Aiken... There still are some new musicians out there that are as good or better than the old guys. Check out Robert Randolph if you wanna hear some good guitar work...:worthy: Or Derek Trucks, he plays lead for The Allman Brothers and he is one of the best guitarists that has ever lived in my opinion. There are so many bands out there that just aren't fit for MTV but have more talent in their big toe than anyone on that crap channel... By looking at my avatar, I'm sure you can see where my roots lie. I should have been born in the 60's I think... Although if I was I'd probably be that 40 year old dude you see wandering down the side of the road with no shoes on, yelling at a lamp post... Or making stuff out of clay or something:bigeek: Well I think I've been on this rant long enough, I think I'll go make an ashtray or swear at the couch... He's been looking at me funny all night:help:
