Just wondering what everyone uses out on the river. I love Lamiglass GS1000 series blanks. Toughest steelhead rod I have ever used. Just wish they would come out with a float rod blank.

Sorry goat, but I had to vote other. I have a very low opinion on production rods, including some of the high end ones. Maybe a favorite blank poll?

Was wondering if you know anything about gatti blanks? I have read that they are among the best made blanks out on the market

Iggle Claw makes 'em yeller rods. Reckon I like em, they rip up mudsharks like a dang ole weedwacker.

From the manufacturers listed, I would have to choose St. Croix, simply because of wide range of quality rods at an affordable price... but overall, my vote goes to Scott.

St Croix - middle of the road rods - cause I'm a middle of the road kind of guy.... I don't need to impress anyone cause I already have my Good Looks.

Ugly Sticks ROCK TOO - I have a couple of Ugly Stick Ultralight spin rods that are virtually indestructible...

Orvis Clearwater for Salmon and Ontario Steelhead. Low end rod with a 25 year, no questions asked warranty! If I break it(which I did this year!!!), they send me a new one and I don't feel bad!

Fenwick for Erie Steelhead. First flyrod I bought many years ago. I picked it up at Sugerman's(for those of you who know the store!) which is no longer open

GLoomis for trout in my local streams. Love my 7 1/2 foot 2wt when the hatch is on!!

I have a couple of St. Croix that I like, resonable price made in USA. I use a 5-6 wt Diamondback for trout which is great, also made in the USA. I'm looking to pickup a used bamboo to try using for trout.

Have to go Sage

Great line of products, great warranty.

Diamondback fly rods - handcrafted in VT with an excellent lifetime warranty... I've shut one in the truck door and one in the tailgate making some obvious breaks that weren't caused by defective equipment and was sent a new one each time without delay. They make a 14' 10wt that is surprisingly easy to cast all day long...

The Loomis GLX is my favorite rod I've ever owned- 10ft 6 wt. - I've landed 25+lbs kings on it while fishing for trout without a problem.

I have a sage 2wt that I use for the small PA spring creeks that I love as well.

IMHO the SR is a unique river with extraordinary fish. Therefore it calls for a unique rod that most manufacturers do not offer. A good custom rod can tip the odds in your favor.

I know they're real expensive- just wondering if anyone uses them and any feedback-

Just for general knowledge- I'm not planning on any new purchases anytime soon.

Thanks,
Jeff

I own well over 20 G Loomis, baitcasting and spinning rods, IMX Being the majority of those. I used to fish tournaments heavily and they are my 1st choice for bass fishing equipment, so thats how I voted.

That being said, when it comes to fly rods, I have always primarily used Orvis rods. Guess Orvis was the first high end rod I ever fished with and I got used to the feel.

For my money, WinstonB11x, 10ft. 7wt. Salmon and definitely steelhead. And it's cheaper than Sage.

All of my favorites would be in the "others".
1. Thomas & Thomas
2. Loop
3. Winston
4. Sage
5. Scott
6. Powell

WOW. Alot of people like to fish different rods. Thanks for all the replys. Personally I like the bang for the buck rods. I am not a fly caster, and just started centerpinning and can not justify spending tons of money on high end stuff if I don't use the rod for it's intended purpose. This thread shows the beauty of fishing. There are many ways to get the job done.

Lamiglass are great for the money. I have a 10 wt. that feels like a 6 wt. I have it about 8 years and it looks like brand new. Handles any king and great for the steelies due to the it's light weight.

Maybe it's not a Loomis, Sage or Winston but for $150.00 (less than half the price of other rods) it's pretty close.

I think it is the best rod in that price range. I have a Loomis too and its wonderful.
