The further in the woods they dare to go, the better the chance of that happening!

WOW!!! That is a beast!!! I got one 375lb a couple years ago while bowhunting in VT and that was the biggest rush I've ever experienced. 10 yards away he looked like a volkswagen beetle... Double that!!! A VW minibus!!! Anyone know what the World Record black bear weighed?

The biggest taken in NJ this season was 725 dressed out and shot at about 10yds away from a ground blind thats what I heard from two guys I hunt with who know the guy.I had my sights on two different ones during the week but both were to small (150lbs and 100lbs)so I went bearless.

TOO SMALL!!!! I know of guys in PA who shot bears that weren't even 50lbs.....live weight!!!! I don't bear hunt, but 50 lbs is awfully small. I have a 9 month old yellow lab that weighs more than that!!! Some guys that I hunt with would of dusted both those bear without batting an eye!

Gman that bear that was taken to W.V. was actually shot in the English Center area. In Tioga County.. My friend has a cabin right next to the one's who shot it. They hauled it back to W.V. in the Back of a mini-van and told everyone they had shot it there..but then they got to checking and the biggest bear ever killed in W.V. was only like 350 LBS. I was with a group that were tagging bear this past summer and they tagged one that went 978 pounds!! That was also in Tioga County. That one surprised everyone.

My bad.. there was one shot over 800 lbs right in the Francis Walter Dam gameland/swampland areas outside of White Haven.
It was mid 800lbs fielddressed and they figured at least 50 lbs for the innards that were left in the woods. This is going back about 8-10 yrs I think..
I believe they have the bear you are talking about in the Hamburg Pa Cabela's Conservation Mountain display...
there are plenty of BIG ONES in Pa.
