I saw this post on another site.

Enjoy your fishing while you can because you never know what will happen to take it all away.

I work a 10 hour day every day not including a lunch hour. I do this so that every other week I get a weekday off. This was a program offered where I work called the compressed workweek, CWW. I use this weekday every other week to fish the GL tribs. As my daughters have gotten older their sports and activity schedules have grown so much that pretty much my trib fishing can only be done on these CWW days. I do two 4-day trips. One is in the fall and the entire trip is done on the weekdays to avoid crowds and the second is done in the winter over a long weekend when the crowds are off the water. With a little creative scheduling I can get 30 or more days on the GL tribs per year.

Well my boss’s boss does not like the fact that I have this day off and my boss mentioned to me the other day that we will have to talk about my CWW day. He said, “don’t get mad just yet, maybe we will just have to make less of them” but the reality is that once it gets cut it will be eliminated 6 months after that. I’ve been in Corporate America long enough to read between the lines.

Without my CWW day I will need to use vacation time for those miscellaneous things that come up in the summer. Add to that my daughters sports and activity schedule and I will find myself in a tough position come next season. I just plain won’t have any time available for Great Lakes trib fishing.

It looks like I had a good 20+ year run of fishing the GL tribs. So I say again”Enjoy your trib fishing regardless of fish numbers because you never know what will change in your life that can take it away from you”. On the bright side, my youngest daughter is 10 so in another 8 or 10 years I should be able to get back to chassin’ steel.
