Spent this past Sunday in beautiful downtown East Rutherford, New Jersey. There to watch the Jets and Raiders battle it out in the 2006 Draft Pick bowl. Amazingly, the J-E-T-S actually showed up and played football for a change. Then got to enjoy the Giants-Eagles game on the ride home. Spending a day with the NFL is almost as good as a day fishing the SR!

#51 green should be half way around #62 while preparing to stuff the QB to the turf.
If he wants to watch, he should have bought a ticket...

Not at all, #51 is protecting his gap assignment. He runs up the hole and goes after the QB it will leave the middle of the field open for the TE to run across. Well, it is the NY Jets. Go ahead and get the QB
gman2153

wrong - the TE thinks he is TO and will only accept passes from Brett Farve,,,
ooops, wrong team, thought that was the lowly Beagles :D

Having played linebacker, I fully agree with BT5. Linebackers, unless in a blitzing situation, have drop zone coverage during a passing play. Drop back, head on a swivel! God I miss those days!

Played D1 Football here.... that linebacker is covering a zone versus rushing the passer. Hes caring for the flat.

Man, I never new we had so many linebackers on the board!:D
I almost quit my job my last year of college to play... stupid bills.
I used to hate zone coverage. I didn't mind covering the flats, it was whenever I had to cover the underneath middle zone... bleh
Nothing like blitzing though... man I miss that.

You linebackers are all the same...
Take the Glory while us Big Guys in the Trenches would get all muddy, then after the game you go and Steal the QB's girlfriend.:D
I used to love playing DT (use of hands).. I wore apiece of tape on the front of my helmet that read "Worms ???"
When I first lined up against the other guy, he'd look at me - like WTF?

I actually ended up getting moved to corner my last 2 years for man-to-man coverage. Now that sucked! If you hated the hook zone, you would have really hated man-to-man on those quick, shifty suckers. All game, every game!!! Once in a blue moon, I would get the "cloud" call for a corner blitz...good times!

I was pretty quick, I ran a 4.4, 40. I didn't mind man to man. I usually played LO LB everyonce and a while they'd play me at SS just to blitz and NT for chits and giggles. It was always fun running by you "guys in the trenches" :p
When I did get to play offense I either played TE or Guard, that was fun because I only played guard when there was a toss/sweep with a pulling Guard. It's always fun blasting into a guy at full speed.
I was the long snapper for kicking teams too, That wasn't pretty. I was the smallest lineman on the field (5'9" 175) I'm a bit heavier now though :D

Ground level, Jets sideline end-zone near-corner. Actually under the mezzanine overhang during the first half (bathroom and concessions right behind, overhanging TV monitor right in front), then moved up to the rail for the second half.
#51 is J. Vilma, AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year last year, he's the defensive captain and all-MLB. Their D was actually pretty good this year, only problem was the O was so banged up they could never hold the ball and had maybe 15 minutes of posession time each game. The D was on the field pretty much non-stop every game and after a while coudn't get off, which is never gonna result in a W.
Here's one from the offensive side of the ball:

Real men Play Rugby!! Put your self in the front row of a scrum after being crunched you have to get up and start running, make tackles and after tackeling the play doesn't stop, you still have to keep running and make another tackle. You run for 85+ mins. and you tackle count can be over 40-50 hits in a game. Now thats a mans sport.

Coolrobc, that was about my speed too. Weighed in at 185lbs. back then (have lost about 15 lbs of muscle mass since). But some of those receivers were really fast. Had to cheat my a$$ off just to keep up some times. Played a little rugby in college while in RI. I would fill-in once in awhile on the Newport team when they needed a man. Rugby's tough and very physically demanding but the impact in football, regardless of pads, etc. is much harder. I played tailback on offense in highschool and have had my bell rung a number of times running up the middle and have returned the favor a few times as well. Always like having a full head of steam when I ran into a guy just coming off a block and trying to fill the hole. Head to head collisions at full speed have no doubt numbed my brain...have had 3 concusions over the years (guess I didn't learn the first time:D ). Got a whole list of injuries from football and I would do it all over again if I could. Also played wall breaker on kickoff for a year. Not a fun job!
Sorry Hamj, I have a ton of respect for rugby but football can be brutal!

I played football in high school (Running Back) it hurt like hell with those helmets, shure the hitting is harder in football, but the demand that rugby puts on your body, (not just a few players but all) there is no comparison. Football was rugby at one time, you Americas changed it, so that it could be more like a military game. I love watching football, but rugby i'll still play until I get old, unless the wife stops me!!!!

Do they teach the "kicker flop" in school,
(Where the kicker falls on the ground and rolls around in pain after someone brushes his shoelaces in an attempt to block)?
I suppose I can't really pick on you for that, I played golf:laugh: in H.S. and college. A real man's sport:fear:
