Might not be as big as it looks in that picture. Something just doesn't look right??? It's bigger than any brown I've ever caught that's for sure.. Something just looks off about it.. The fish is so crisp and clear and everything else looks fuzzy?? Maybe I'm wrong, or just mad it's not be in the picture??

It looks to me like he is holding the fish at arms lengh, closer to the camera. It makes the fish look bigger. (I know that trick;) )

I would guess 15lbs

The fish seems to look so big because of the fact that he is holding it at arms length. The person is blurry because of the focal length of the camera. This is an old photography trick. Advertisers use it to emphasize their product and deemphasize the background

but look where he is holding the fish
no indentation, i know browns are muscular, but they would indent where they are held, i think its a mount
still a great pic
but i think its staged:p

I think its a legit photo and a real fish, I also think the fish is about a 2 feet from the camera lens. Still a nice Brown no matter how it looks

It is a fish held out at an arms length like stated. Still one beautiful fish though. Best way to judge a fishes size is by the diameter of the tail. Gotta compare it to the fingers. That is the only clue you really have to judging a fishes size by a pic.

the skeptic in me leads me to wonder how someone can hold a fish that size straight up and down like that with the right gill plate flaring out? take another look fellas...how is that fish being held?? not sure bout you guys but everytime i see a picture of a fish held straight up and down like that from under the gillplate the opposite side plate generally flares out.

The technology today is so scary - as evidenced by Hamj photoshop skills - it makes me take an extra look at every picture I see anymore.

This picture I have my doubts - there is no indentation at where the bottom hand wraps around.. That fish is pretty heavy...

I'm sorry everyone for making you paranoid about pictures, but I really think it legit its just a optical illusion, since camera see in 2d its easy to trick the your eye in thinking thing are closer or farther then they really are. Thats why when you look at photos done by a person that know what there doing, they use elements in the photo to show depth (blurr background, shoot subject on a angle, putting stuff in the foreground)a picture that looks flat is really bad for a professional. Is this case the fish is held further from the fisherman so its not on the same focal plane and since there is no element to show the depth in the picture the fish looks as if its still in the focal plane as the fisherman so the fish looks bigger.

im pretty sure the picture is real.

it looks like he is fishing the wall hole, or another peice of water in the DSR and Rob from whitakers fishes that area alot. and since the picture is from the whitakers site i think its fair to say it is real.

I'll put my 2 cents in coming from another photoshop Guru... its not fake its just the old trick of holding it out in front at the right distance makes the fish appear bigger. No phototouching there and it is a really nice fish.

Photo shopped or not I would love to catch one that big, even if it is fake. I will remember the trick with the fish closer to the camera.:D

Fish looks dry, and I agree about that lower abdominal stiffness. Unnatural!
But the eye is looking down in the right direction, which I suppose could be done with digital, or the taxedermist was off!

Yeah I know and I am trying to catch one that big. My 6 year old son caught a nice brown 7-9 lbs this year. It is in the photos section, check it out. I caught a 5lb brown today. I have the dilema of going deer hunting or fishing. As long as the fishing is good my rifle will rest.

There's all kinds of miami fans in the area...dolphins fans especially...i don't get it...someone even has a dolphins mural painted on their garage (its funny i mention this, in a thread about a big brown).
