This sign was posted about 2 weeks ago. And in fact the DEC were warning people about it on the weekend.
We are looking into the fact that there used to be a town road that ended just below this mans property. If the town has never sold this right of way for this road it will allow for a new access path.
But untill then, please be respectfull of the propery owners rights.

Report came from the Fish.USA forum. This also came from there.
"Fished lower fly stretch all days exept for 1 were I proceded to the Bovines and Ellis cove, (what a mistake this was)i think every law that can be broken was from j plugs with weight to people gaffing fish ( snagging ) in the feeder creeks luckily i heard from a friend Dec got the gaffers."
Baja, is that spot trout brook? or the Main river?
Don't worry Cray. Niagra Mowhawk owns most of the river. They bought the rights from most land owners a few decades ago. Some didn't sell but most did.

The area that is now posted is on Trout brook.
And you are correct, NiMo did buy most of the main river front. They also gifted many of the areas back to the state. There are only a few land owners who did not sell the fishing rights years ago.
So, Fishing on the Salmon river will be safe for years to come.:D

If I owned property along the river and people left as much trash on my property as they do along the SR who could blame them for posting property that some people just have no respet for?? :( It makes us all look like the bad guys for the few that can't seem to take out the trash that they brought in with them.

It'd be interesting to see what his deed says - if he owns to the bank, or out to the highwater line, then as long as you're in the water you wouldn't be tresspassing, as his property wouldn't extend into the water. Also, if the water is "navigable" under state law, then no mater what his deed says, the public has an easement to all of the river, and adjoinging property owners can't infringe upon that easement or restrict use, but this would only be for the water, and not any shoreline. Bottom line, I do agree that the actions of the few spoil it for the many, just like so many things in life, and the majority of fishermen fish because they love the environment and have a respect for it, not because they're trying to fill a cooler.

I don't see why people can't just park in the lot provided by the DEC, and follow the stream down to the SR on the right side and stay away from the posted land. Amazing.
That stream is so small that a Snagger can reach any fish from either side..so what's the issue... IMO - The DEC should ban fishing in Trout Brook to let the fish spawn in peace.- just allow use of the footpath to get to/from the Salmon River.

People need to learn respect for other peoples property. If they did have respect then you probably would not see all the posted signs going up all over the place.
Pretty soon its going to look like NJ ... POSTED, NO TRESPASSING .. everywhere and anywhere.
