Poted this for some buddies on the fisherie site..hope ypu ejoy it as much as I did being there with him..Ray...

Took a little ride to kill some time with my 8 yr. old Zack before the fish erie picnic to do a little steelheading.We found an area where we had a little piece real estate to ourselves,Zack in his new spiffy rubber waders and my trusty 7 wt. the gods shined on us for about 2 hours as he got into some nice chromers on the flyrod!Took him around 6 or 7 lost steelies before I netted his first steelhead ever on his first trip up with me.. He Proceeded to land 4 more before the sun glared into our run and put the fish down.Best part we had little company and he cast fought and battled the fish alone made my day to say the least!!We had to bring 2 of them back for mom to see ..yuk guess I know what I'm eating tomorrow..LoL..Ray

Ray...that's the way to bring a kid up!!! They are never the same once they get a "taste" for the good life...pics of a lifetime there!!!

It is a better feeling to watch you child with a fish on than actually catching fish yourself. Most of the time when i bring my son up i can't fish just give him tip's and make sure he get's into a couple.

Unless we hit the mother load than he is on his own (lol)

Beautiful pics Ray....That's one proud boy and I'm sure one proud father. Can't wait to my daughter wants to get into salmon and steel. She's good with the trout now and only a matter of time for the others.!!

Nice!! I do want to ask a question. How did you keep him out of the water? My 7 year old would be shivering with his waders full of water :) .

Proud dad I am of him ,he's a great son ! All the kids in his class in 3rd grade all know what the heck a steelhead is now I bet..LOL..15 minutes before he started hooking up he was playing with the rocks building a fort and skipping stones..LOL..Acts so old at times and still my little baby boy the other times..Thanks again for the nice replies he has been reading them and just gets a big smile on his face and wants to know when we're doing it again...Ray
