We gave Kathy's Salmon River Inn (Brenda's) in Altmar a try this past Saturday night and here's my report. We arrived 7pm and it was not crowded at all. We sat down at a table in the bar area so we could watch the game and get some food since there are no TVs in the dining room. No one waited on us at our table so I went up to the bar to order a pitcher. I ended up standing there at the uncrowned bar for over 10 minutes while being ignored by the 3 staff behind the bar until finally one of them took my drink and food order. Two dozen wings took about 40 minutes to be delivered and were COLD when they arrived. I can't even begin to describe the condition of the men's room. Needless to say we won't be back. I hope your experience there is better than ours.

When you wrote your review about Kathy's Salmon River Inn you also mentioned Brenda's. Are they the same place or a joint operation? If you stay at Brenda's are you subject to the unfortunate things you experienced at Kathy's?

I have reservations for Brenda's next week and I have never stayed there before. Made reservations late so that's all that was available.

I just want to be prepared.

Thanks

We used to go there every week when it was Kathys. Almost every thursday for wings & several Saturdays for Delmonico Steaks. In the peak of the run it may me slower on a saturday but you expect that. The food and service was always great & the place was usually packed. When Brenda and crew took over we had a few visits silimar to what you described. When Brenda came over to ask us how everything was, we told her and then her attitude really changed. I hope they can make enough during fishing season, becuase my local group of 6-10 people go elsewhere now. Not one of my group has set foot in the place since last winter. There are plenty of other places with better food and service. We eat out 3-4 times a week in the Pulaski area all year so we know. Has anybody tried the new Drift Boat Inn? Thats the only one I haven't made it into yet.

I am just concerned about the rooms and staying there a few nights. I will certainly eat elsewhere.

Has anybody stayed at Brendas motel and campground?
Thanks

Chance,

Brenda's Motel is not what I was reporting about.

Kathy's Salmon River Inn was purchased last year by someone named Brenda, she and her husband also bought the Fish "Inn" Post lodge in Altmar now called something else. No relation to Brenda's Motel and campground.

Thanks Chromefinder!!!!!!!

I appreciate your reply. I was worried as I am taking up my son in law and we our usual place was booked due to last minute arrangements.

It is so nice to get information so quickly and have answers to questions.

What a great site! I'll be up Oct2-5.

good luck to all

brenda, who owns kathy's, which will eventually be the salmon river inn again, bought the Fish-On post" and renamed it the salmon river heaven lodge, or something like that. we ate there sunday night and was not impressed. we dined a the altmar hotel on monday and found that better than kathy's. that's all i'm gonna say. altmar needs better places to eat. probably bring my own food next trip on 10/5.

Hi we stayed at Brenda's last fall. Was not impressed. We stayed in one of the so called mobile homes that she has very very small. Bed was so small in one room son had to sleep on the kitchen floor and barely room enough there. Also if you stay in one of the trailers you must wash all dishes used, remove your own trash, make the beds and vacuum the entire place before checking out. Check in service was very slow and you could not get service if you needed extra towels or anything. Just wanted to let you know. Maybe you will have better luck but that is what we experienced there.

If I can't get into the Redwood...I just go to Brennan's Beach campground. They have real nice campers to rent and the facilities are top notch. I won't spend $$$ anywhere else for lodging as for the money, the Redwood is great. Nice clean rooms, extra everything, donuts and coffee waiting in the morning. You can walk to like 3 tackle shops and the C&M Diner or Ponderosa.
They've got killer breakfast buffet there now.

Redwood also gets you a 10% discount at Ponderosa. I know it's nothing like what the Log Cabin Inn used to serve, but the steaks and chicken are pretty good and the service is always quick...no matter how busy they are. I'm moving the operation to weekdays from here on out though. No more full weekends for me...I've had enough of the mayhem for this season.

The only thing good about Brendas Motel is the bathrooms are clean and big enough to sleep in..lol..otherwise the rooms suck,if you dont mind sleeping with a bunkbed a foot away from your face ,,her rooms are identical to Cannons Place,,,my friend went to that kathys place saturday night and it was terrible also>))>

Yeah, I was there twice this week  & . Snagger, You gotta tell me where you find good food in Pulaski???? As far as the Drift Boat Inn (the old Tony's) it will be the best place in town!! All year round not just a fisherman's joint. Ron is great, and the place is high end for Pulaski with good prices for Pulaski!!! When I say Ron knows how to run a business beleive me. If you have stayed with him at the Victorian you will know what I mean. The Bar is open and the food will be served soon. Check it out!

Thanks for the heads up on the new Drift Boat Inn. I don't mind paying for a good meal, I just don't want poor quality, quantity or service. Lately most not all places in Pulaski have some or all of those problems. The Wigwam about 10 minutes from Pulaski is a great meal. More money than some other restaurants, but you get what you pay for. Rainbow Shores & Holiday Corners are decent the same people run both. The Eis House in Mexico has always been a good meal. If you dont mind a 20-30 minute ride there are some great places in Oswego & Watertown. Something to think of if you fish Oswego or some of the Northern Creeks. There are some great restaurants near both.

That's right! I forgot about Rainbow shores. The Wigwam is OK (I'm not a Prime Rib guy - I like Rib Eyes) and I think the prices are very high for that part of the country (and you see where I live - LOL). Eis House  , I gotta try them.

I ate at the Wigwam a few years ago and I remember it wasn't bad. Decent atmosphere.
Worth a trip to see if it is still okay.

Is the Salmon River Inn the one that's across from the Citgo Station, and owned by I guy named Harry? I have never been there, but met this guy on the River the other day, and he was trying to drum up business. Seemed like an alright guy, and a half way decent angler.

We also gave Kathy’s a try on Sunday for lunch. I thought the service was great. The waitress stopped over every few minutes to check on us. This could have been because there were only 2 tables besides mine. But hell the owner came over sat down and had a chat. I guess that impressed me a little, someone actually taking time for the customers. The food well after a long day on the SR was great but that’s after standing in the river for 6 hours. Just my 2 cents

We stayed at Brendas this past weekend for the first time. I thought the rooms were fine, although a little on the small side. The beds were comfortable and the place was quiet. Service was fine and had no issues. The room and bathroom were clean and had everything (towels etc ) we needed. Nothing special but certainly NOT a dump as some have said. But hey we use to stay at The River St Lodge.

I never paid much mind to the "# of views" tally before until now. Just for the record, some retribution for those that have had bad experiences at Brenda's...the tally on this thread was already a 1100+ and climbing!!!   I don't think this kind of "word-of-mouth PR" is going to help her business out very much, but from the sounds of things she hasn't done much to help out her "customers" and she doesn't deserve everyone's hard-earned $$$ anyway.

My old man and I always stopped at Kathys after fishing for some pizza and wings, they WERE OUTTA this world! When the changeover took place the sh!t hit the fan. The wings suck as does the service and the pizza....F'in A....it looks like a piece of cardboard with something red and covered with salmon spooge cheese!

Wigwam - Head north on RT 3, at the blinking light at Lindsey Corners take a left. Take a right on Wigwam Rd on the right about 3/4 mile or so from RT 3.

An even better place is Arena's EIS House in Mexico. The food is alot better then the Wigwam, has a nice little sportsbar too..

About the same distance too is my guess.
Stone how far would you say the Wigwam is from the Rte 3 bridge? 10 miles? I never really pay attention to distance when I am up there.
