Whitakers or Malindas. Good luck on your trip!!!

There are plenty of places, but you won't find a reasonable price anywhere. Whitakers had the best prices I have seen in town, but even they are at best $1.75 each. These things cost at most 30 cents to make per fly and the mark-up is extreme as they can tie anywhere from 2 to 4 dozen an hour. If you do the math, it really DOES pay to tie your own:o

There's Malinda's (and that's it for Altmar as far as I'm concerned), and then Whitaker's and Fat Nancy's just outside of Pulaski. The nicest surprise from yesterday was going into the Yankee Fly Shop just down from the Short Bridge in town. Stick with those and you won't go wrong.

The lady in the Yankee was super nice and knowledgeable and she even let my friend tie up a few flies in the shop while we were waiting for the deluge to let up!!! That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen a shop owner do for a customer in a long time. Their flies were very reasonably priced and she had a great selection. I bought one of the nice Hodgeman rain / wading jackets and found it to be one of the best investments I've ever made...that lady knows a great wading jacket for the price.
