View Full Version : Fly fishin in pulaski in a diferent way!

Ive heard a lot of people saying that they fly fish in pulaski i do in a way buy using a leader and a barrel swivel with a gamagatsu hook. But does anyone actual cast with a fly rod to salmon like real fly fishin i dont think so but if u do pleae tell me i would like to do it.

Yes they do but; it depends on the flow and where the fish are in the water column. Sometimes you don't have an option - if you want to hook them you gotta use lead or sink tip!!

traditional fly fishing for me....and wouldnt have it ANY other way.

When the river is high lead is an option, but it is not the only way to get a fly down. When I can, and I usually can, I use a weighted or non-weighted fly depending on the water, cast it far enough upstream, and mend as needed. I can get a nice dead drift for maybe as long as 40 feet depending on conditions. Sometimes it's only five feet, but that may be all you need. I can also get a nice dead drift with a sinktip. It works, and it is far more like nymphing for trout.

I've been using traditional methods for years. Just a 9 wt. and a bunch of flys ( weighted and non) depending on conditions and location.:cool:

The hardest part is trying to get a good drift thru the clowns. When it gets to bad you just go for a walk.
