when is the best time to fish the estruary in the Salmon river for steelhead?

Well we used to fish the mouth of the ********** in sept and Oct when the salmon fishing was slow and we would catch enough steelies to save a trip. But thats all I know on this

Alot of guys fish the Bobber Hole for Steelhead in late Sept with good results.. Cast large Golf ball size egg sacks..

Its the lowest hole in the DSR. Where the river current basically stops and the estuary begins.

I have always wanted to try that my self. Is the lowest part of the DSR clearly marked and is there access to the area for the shore angler???

the only access is by boat... it is a favorite place for snaggers, they cast and rip. sometimes there are 12 or more boats filled with drunks pretending to fish. wait till salmon season is over and the weater is colder to try it you'll just get disgusted.

As long as the water isn't too high you can access it from shore by wading out.. Its not as good as it once was, high water is filling it in down there..
