Just spoke to Paul DeAngelo and my mount won't be ready by the 27th :( In fact she's still in his freezer. I could pick her up while I'm up there and he'll refund me my money and take her somewhere else and start all over again. I dunno what ta do, wait till 2006 or take her elsewhere? What scares me is he's declared bankrupcy and is gonna be outta there to the west coast by March '06 so maybe I better get my fish and my money back. Just dunno where I'd take her though, the guys down here don't know steelhead. What should I do???

I hate to say I told you so, because I don't wish that on anyone... But nobody seems to listen to me when I warned you guys about him. Sorry to hear about that Reinin. :( I'm sorry, but that guy is a complete and utter @$$hole... plain and simple. He's screwed more people than you can possibly imagine.

Maggie at Fishwish just got back to me promptly, thanks for the link Cray :)
If I can get my fish back in decent condition she can mount it for me, otherwise I guess she can do a replica. So now on the 27th I gotta hit up DeAngelo's for my fish and money and run her over ta FishWish. And even though he told me he'd give me back everything I have a feeling it's gonna be a fight, he's gonna charge me storeage or somethin. But I ain't leavin that shop without my fish and money or I'm takin one of his mounts out with me lol :D

Val I would try to make it there Friday the 26th. Never know he might tell you that he will be there the 27th and then not open. I heard of him doing that already. I hope everything works out for you!! ;) I hate to see someone get screwed by such an @ss like him. I know he is known for his turn down eyes and such but I have seen nicer work from alot of other places.
Good Luck! :D

I can't tell you how these Pulaski guys like to Brag. DeAngelo once told me he was going to retire at 40 years old. He said business was great and making tons of doe or is that dough. Don't get me wrong, I don't know him personnaly but, he is like the 5th Pulaski resident that has told me how well off they were and then you here about their financial troubles :o !

The reason he is bankrupt is because he took all of those lovely down payments and spent them... and never cared to do the work. Do the simple math... it was stated he took around 1500 fish a year. A general average fish would cost in the $500.00 range. Just the deposits alone would net you $375,00.00 a year. Plain @$$hole!

Lil:
Based on your #'s, - iI wonder how in the world this guy is is still walking around with 2 working legs....
Never met him, don't know him, but he must be able to turn invisible to prevent someone from reeking havoc upon him..
I would venture to guess that out of 1500 people there would have to be at least a couple that would seek restitution the "old fashioned way".
Whatever - your #'s astounded me that's all. Just cannot believe the guy is still in the neighborhood.
Later.

I am in no way defending D'Angelo but remember, out of the theoretical $375k, he has expenses to cover such as rent/mortgage, salaries, supplies etc. I also believe he has gone through a divorce which would have cost him a fair piece of change but you are right in that if he took in an average of 1500 fish in a year (seems kind of high to me) he should have some kind of cash on hand. Maybe he has a "nose candy" problem. Many people up there do including a guide I went on a drift with (found out after the fact). Makes you wonder what kind of people you are really dealing with.

Yeah Lil's calculations are right on the money and DeAngelo says he's still workin on 2003 fish so I guess my March '04 is a long way off. He's a good-lookin, sweet talker that just gives me a sob story everytime I talk ta him (blah blah blah), I just want my fish. So my next dilemma is do I call him again tomorrow and inform him that I want to pick up my fish and my money on the 27th? I think I should so he doesn't give me any crap that he can't find my fish or started on it already or doesn't have the money. And I really hope he doesn't skip town or hide from me cuz he promised me twice on the phone I could have my fish and my deposit back. And I really despise a man that doesn't keep his word.

I agree Blue... by no way am I suggesting that there are no operating expenses. I am not naive to running a business.
I have been screwed by this guy along with a few other close friends, so I know first hand his tactics. Remember the 375K is only the down payment. If he finishes even half of the fish thats another 175K. And yes that number seems high, but that is what I was told by one of his assistants on one of my trips to his studio. He has even taken more fish on occasion. What pisses me off even further is that why would you to continue to take LARGE amounts of work when you are already 2 YEARS BEHIND? Finish what you frekkin owe people.
It's funny... Maggie from Fish Wish does phenomenal work and at the same time has tons of it (including Museum work). Not to mention, from my knowledge, she works by herself unlike DeAngelo who has people doing alot of the work for him. And the funny part about all of that is she delivers a fish in 11 months vs. 3 to 4 years! You tell me who is unethical here. :p
GET THE FISH 'BOWS! GET IT SOON BEFORE HE HEADS TO HIS HIDEOUT IN ALASKA!

Hey Blue you make a good point but he is supposed to run a buisness. Why should we care about his divorce. He is a crook. Plain and simple and I feel sorry for the people in Alaska when he gets there.
Oh and there is a nose candy problem in pulaski??? LOL!!!! Well fishing can't support the town.

The sad thing is, if he sets up shop in Alaska, he will be in the same position on turn around in no time. There's probably the more sport caught trophy fish landed in 4 months up there as there are all year out of the whole SR area. Not to mention saltwater fish also. Personally, I could not take in a persons fish if I had that kind of backlog. You hate to turn down business but you can see what kind of reputation his business has gotten from his actions. He would be better off cleaning up his mess and repairing his reputation before he moves (if he does) as things like this have a funny way of following you everywhere you go.

Well I just hope he cleans up his mess enough ta give me back my fish and my money, because yes his reputation will follow him, I will make sure of that! And I don't care about his "nose candy" problem, if I were a wealthier woman I may doin that too. But it's all about responsibility, and yur word!

WOW!! Cecil and Val are going to be like Bonnie and Clyde!!!! I will be there!! That is total BS!!
Bugger who cares who read this?? This is a public forum! I hope he is cause then he will realize that his crimes have not gone un-noticed and there are repercussions to his actions. I bust alot of balls and have a good time but one thing I do not do and look down upon is some one F****in someone on purpose for personal gain. That is just wrong. He could have a great buisness just by being honest.
Off my soap box now.

RB...just a small suggestion, but why not show up when he is NOT expecting you. Like several hours or even a day early...and if you have it still, take the receipt and copy of the check (if you paid that way). Last, but not least, GET YOUR $$$ BACK IN CASH. If this dude gives you a check, get on your (or somebody's cell) and call his bank to see if there are sufficient funds on hand. If so, cash it fast before he gets the idea to put stop payment on it.
If that doesn't work...the Barney & Cecil "Collection Service" seem to be at your disposal. Funny???...those first names don't "sound" Italian???:D But...I agree with Cray 1000% what he said...if the scum can't do business honestly, he deserves what he gets. What really sucks is now that he's going under here, he'll most likely move elsewhere and do it until that "resource" runs out.

I have thought of all that JS, and I do have the receipt for the cashiers check and all copies of responses from him. And yes I do want my money back in cash or a cashiers check, like I had to pay him (he wouldn't take a check or CC). But I feel I do haveta talk to him today, just make sure he has my fish and my money waitin for me on the 27th. If he doesn't, I don't wanna involve you guys, I will go to his house/and or the police station. I'll play blonde,,,this guy took my fish and my money!

Thx JS,,,I'm used ta jumpin thru hoops. As I was typin this my lil 5 yr old dog had another seizure, it's lookin more like a brain tumor rather than epilepsy :(
She is on large doses of phenobarbital and prednisone so anymore seizures it looks like this is her last wkend. And my usual vet is away and it would cost $1,200 for an MRI to tell me she definitely has a brain tumor, I can't justify that. So I may haveta put my 5 yr old down and my 12 yr old dog has cancer so if DeAngelo gives me any crap I will kick his ***!
