unfortunately. Could have stayed for another month. Everywhere was absolutely awesome. There were fish in every stream I stopped to fish. The biggest drawback is the fishing regs. If you think NY is screwed up, you should see the Alaska regs book. Check out some of my pic's in the gallery.

Pics are posted. Check out the "Fishing Hole". Homer Alaska's version of the Kiddie pool. It's a round hole in a sand bar with a very small opening to the sea. You can snag...oops, I mean cast completely across it. The state actually even stocks it. LMAO

But I have a question -

NO SAGGING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE !!!

LMAO - Wassup with that sign????

Apparently, it is legal in certain places at certain times. I fished coho's on a creek just outside Anchorage where everyone (about 60 or 70 guys) except for me were snagging illegaly, even though it was posted no snagging. These guys were so blatant it would have made SR snaggers blush. The best part was that I was using one of my pin reels on a 9 1/2 foot 8 weight fly rod and was getting a hookup on almost every cast. One of the idiots came up to me and told me I would have better success if I snag them. I showed him the legal way and proved they bite but he went right back to snagging anyway.

We mainly have approval because when we didn't... we had a bunch of objectionable material posted. We have kids who view the site and I wanted to keep it fun for everyone.

Blue...pretty cool about your trip (except for the snagging). I was surprised to see in your post that you were getting in to Silvers already???...don't they run later in the season and thru Sept??? Could they have been fresh-run Chums???

Lil, no problem. I am glad you are diligent about keeping the site respectable.

JC, they were definately cohoes. Some streams start their runs earlier than others, some later for all species of salmon. Went out on a glacier boat one day and they were jumping all along the coast line and out several miles. They were also confirmed by the captain of the boat who also had about 25 years commercial salmon fishing experience under his belt. Everything runs much earlier up there than it does out of the GL's.
