I have run into a little bit of a dilema. I bought my father a Hummingbird Matrix 65 fish finder/gps unit a couple years ago. He recently cracked the transducer and I believe moisture got inside of it. He went on a trip to the Adirondacks not long ago and the whole screen went blank on his fishfinder. It is still getting power. It beeps when you push the menu functions, just nothing on the screen. Not even the gps works. I found the right transducer to replace the one thats broke. I am just wondering if it will even make any difference. But then I cant understand why a bad transducer would affect the display on the screen. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this or ran into this problem. I suspect I might have to send it back to Humminbird and let them fix it. I was hoping for a short term solution.

Had the transducer cable get bad on the humminbird fish finder on my boat and there was nothing on the screen. I would reach over the back and jiggile the cable and it would work. If the transducer is not working there is no image to send to the screen. Also if the charge was not at a certian point in the battery it would have a blank screen even though the battery would still start the motor. The only way moisture would get to the screen was if the case were not tight, it is made for use around and on the water. Don't think that moisture can get up the cable and to the screen. Just try attaching the new transducer and make sure your battery(ies) are fully charged and it should work.
