Toolmaker should have some input- he's up that way alot- his family has a camp in Clayton.
I've fished Lake of Isles it's just over the bridge from Clayton before the border- on Wellsley Island. It's loaded with bass, pike, and crappie- it has an inlet to the big river- I'd check it out.

Stay close to French bay, right near the little bridge going into French creek marina. Good bass inside the marina around the docks too. Like Gottum said lake of the isles is great, also Eel bay off Wellsley Island. Walleyes are tough to find on the St. Lawerance but the black river has been getting some action on them, drift leeches. Smallmouth and pike are off the ledges around the islands. Also if you are unfamiliar with the St. Lawerance it is crystal clear from the Zebra mussels, use light flouro line. Another guy to ask is Craig, I visit there often but he grew up there. Gottum, I will let you know when I'll be up again, hopefully soon.

I usually have good luck with pike on the outside edge of pretty much any weed bed in 18-25 feet of water. I have had the best luck with very large baits, last years favorite was a 3.25 ounce red and white daredevil type spoon. We usually just drift and cast. I have not had any luck with walleyes, tried a few nights, could not stand the mosquitoes for long. The water is very clear, so I don’t use wire leaders, with spoons and crankbaits I haven’t lost many fish because of it.

I am going up to grass point in two weeks for my summer vacation. Like Tool said Eel bay is alright. Its relatively shallow for the most part and has a lot of small pike in it. There is a channel that runs through the western half of the bay that is good for drifting minnows. Otherwise a daredevil or a large spinner will work. Go with weedless setups when you can otherwise you spend half the day taking weeds off your hook. Last time I went up I caught a nice walleye in front of Boldt Castle. We marked a ton of fish about 60' Could only get one to hit a minnow though. I have been monitoring the fishing reports and things are good from what I read for pike and bass are sporadic. Here is a link that is worth checking on from time to time

I am looking to drive down one day during the week and practice with my center pin outfit on the Salmon. If any pinner is going to be at the river the first week of Aug I would love to meet up and get some pointers. I can cast but it isnt pretty.
