by the number of users each day!!! I remember a couple weeks ago that there would be no more than a couple of people in here every time I came in, and I am here alot. Now the number is in the 20's+!!!
The only thing that makes me warry is the number of guests to members. Right now there are 11 members and 17 guests in the forum?!?! Why not join, IMO the best forum going now, and help out fellow fishermen and give your input???
Just to stress the point like in the ***** creek thread, be carefull of what you post on the smaller, lesser known (YEAH RIGHT!!!) stereams!!! Keep it general and/or to PM's or e-mails!!! Or you may find your favorite spot over crowded and no room for you to catch that trophy memory!!!
Mods - if I am out of line with this thread please feel free to remove!!!

Hey goat, I see you're from Fulton..One time I got pulled over by the law near the Nestle plant. I was on my way home from Osnago. The cop said he got a call from the law in Oswego that I was driving eratically or something. Anyway he let me go and didn't write me up....I still don't know what I did wrong in Oswego..........every time I see Fulton, NY. that's what I remember about your town..............Keith

By the way, I'm from Oswego!!!!!!!!!, but live in fulton:(

I caught my first salmon in the Oswego. I was using a plug and sort of back trolling it from the sidewalk just up stream from Harry's Bait Shop. Harry told me how to fish for them and it worked! I don't recall the year, but they were just starting to put in the sidewalk and there wasn't any railing along the walk yet. Hooked the salmon and my brother ran down to Harry's and bought a net while I fought the fish. When I got the fish in to the walk, my bro had to lay down and the net just reached the water while I held on to his belt with one hand and the rod in to other.....a 28# weighed at Harrys......the rest is history and I'm hooked forever!

I caught my first Salmon from the BiG O too.. 15-16 yrs old, me, my buddy and his uncle went up and fished the inner wall.. Used an old Mitchell 782 moochin reel( anybody remember those with the anti reverse?) 30 # test and orange sponge on a 2/0 hook.. I know it sounds sad now, but we hooked the sh!t outta em and I have been fishing up there ever since... I love Oswego.. I know its got its circus side, but man that place is still cool to me........

I look at it like a rock concert. The salmon are the opening act and the steelhead are the main attraction:)

Ditch, I agree with you about a Members Only Forum because there's alot of detailed info being shared by the members the way its going everything will be PMs
Craydaddy

That is the way the Forum was inteneded. The Forum is open to anyone to view. The PM was created so we can get a little more detailed. Half of the traffic on this site is PM's. If we make a Private Forum all the person has to do it join and bam, there is all the info you were trying to protect open to the public. Then you will be back in the same boat that you are now saying we need a private forum in the private forum for the private members only.
That will be a big pain in the butt. Just keep the details to a minimum about small tribs and trust me I delt with The Steel Head Site. I will not have that here. So if I feel there is to much info stated I will delete it. The other Moderators can agree with me on that.
Thanks! :D

I have to agree with Goat on Steelie's as well. With my first official season under my belt the salmon are something to do until the chrome comes home!!!

The best part of salmon season is when it ends and the crowds disappear.
Personally, that elbow-to-elbow stuff has grown old for me... Tough to fish like it is meant to be when you have crowds of fols with half of them lacking fishing etiqutte. But there are places on the SR where you can escape the crowds if you are willing to hike...and can get up there on a weekday.
THINK SNOW!!!

Personally I enjoy every season, just being on the river is better than working. Do enjoy the solitude of Steelhead fishing a little bit more though.

amen to that....anytime I can get on the water is a welcome retreat. I did enjoy the peacefulness of fishing this winter...never thought I would enjoy it so much.

Aloha Guys n Gals,
I sort of know you guys from lurking around your site and not being a member.
Sorry. So I joined. Cray I've talked to you a few times via your site and you have always been very cool. This past weekend I met with a few more chaps at the SR and Oswego who also suggested joining the site and frequent the site. This is a really cool group of fishers. You all know that already. I'll be sure to add my 2 cents when I can!!
Thanks
Bill

Couldnt agree with you more Topgun, Its been about 5 years since i steelhead fished and the winter of 04/05 I was able to make a bunch of trips up and have to say I enjoyed every minute in the river no matter what the weather was like. I cannot wait to try my hand at salmon fishing this fall then start hunting down fresh chrome.

I share some of G's thoughts about the salmon run. Alot of the people have no fishing etiqutte or a clue what they are doing. Weekdays do offer you a better chance at finding a spot that no one is fishing. Last year was my first year of seriously persuing steelies and it was far more enjoyable, the fisher people respect your space alot more and you don't see as much BS going on. Just my .02.

Gotta love Oswego's madness. I've had so many days up there that were just sick, it isnt even funny. You just have to take the place for what it is, and have a sense of humor. Most of the fun is watching the circus. Oh and i almost forgot, I like my fish conveniently dammed off for my fishing pleasure.
