My kid brother called me today and told me my father had an accident and was in the hospital.

I called home and spoke with my mother and my father pushed himself to hard in the heat yesterday, then ended up falling off the top of a six foot ladder and braking 2 vertabra. Then in sted of going to the hospital, he drives off and refuses treatment. Five hours later he stops breathing and my kid brother preformed CPR and got him started again. (good thing dad made us all join the boyscouts). So he takes a ride, and the docs say his MRI, and cat scan are fine, and the little fins on the spine are what broke. They have no ****ing clue whats wrong with him. I mean he broke his back and they havent even mentioned swelling or pinched nerves as a possiblity. Anyway my mom says hes ok now, just in pain from the fall. But I think that I'll drive done to philly tomorrow to see him anyway.

Moral of the story....
Make you kids join the boyscouts or girlscouts it might save your life.

Hope everything turns out alright!! I guess that's why the boy scout motto is "be prepared". You're right, EVERYONE should have basic first aid and CPR knowledge - you could save a life.

I'm sure everything will be OK Ditch,,,but go down take some control, bother those Drs if ya haveta! My fathers last words to me were, "I'm fine Binger, don't come down, I'll see you soon." And then he went into a coma for 2 yrs, which he never came outta.
But just go Ditch,,,talk,,,see him thru it,,,take some control,,,it'll be ok. Parents can be very stubborn,,,stay, find out. Make em even go back in for tests. Just go and take over no matter what they say, they will always love you in the long run!

Good luck Ditch!!! Parents can be stuborn, make him rest and get more results!!!

Watch out for the older people durring this heat!!! I went over to help out my uncle on monday mow his lawn, he argued with me the whole way but I think he appreciated it in the long run!!! He has a bad foot, my cousin, his daughter, just passed away, and after we mowed the lawn we shared a few beers and a talk. I also think just having my daughter around helps them get through these tough times, and puts a smile back on their faces.

I hope your dad is ok, ditch. If he is as stubborn as my dad you better take a ride to see if he is ok. he might think he is ok now but back injurys are nothing to take lightly, especially after what you described.

i agree with RB also, go find out what is going on for yourself. the worst thing about all of this is not knowing what is going on. wish the best for your dad.
