Turned on the boobtube this morning and was fortunate enough to catch a half hour show with Matt Supinski, author of Steelhead Dreams Book, who was fishing the Michigan tribs... Lots of great Steelhead action, and he spoke of the love and obsession that all of us Steelheaders share for the sport and the species... What surprised me also was the lack of product endorsements during the actual footage filmed.... No big logos anywhere to be seen, no constant endoresements. Just pure fishy talk and action.
Next came Bill Dance "SUPER PRODUCT PIMP" where every third word out of his mouth was shameless product endorsement, this rod, this reel, this line, this lure.. Needless to say I hit the off button on the Boobtube ...
A big thumbs up to Mr. Supinski.

gman, i saw that show last night on OLN. it was fantastic. i loved that fact that i was totally in to it without a fish being caught "every other cast". neat to see two fly fisherman going tandem in a driftboat without wacking each other over the head. i think i even picked up on a few things casting wise. i should have taped it. i even saw my steelhead dreams book on the show.
if anyone knows when it will be on again please post it.

it is hard enough to cast a spinning rod out of the boat with 2 people... how the hell do you have two people casting fly rods????????????

I was watchin ESPN this mornin though and the announcers had something ta say about I think it was Bill Dance and Jimmy Houston. He said,,,,"well they fish in their own stocked ponds now" lol ;) I was like whoaaa cuz I couldn't believe he was dissin them on a BASS tourney show lol. I always thought they had divers that put the fish on the hook for em :p

If any of you want more information on Matt Supinski and his guide service check out www.graydrake.com He fishes the Muskegon in downstate Michigan. I had almost had a chance to fish with him early this month, but work sent me on the road. I wish I would have caught the show.

Nice pick G....I saw the same show the other morning and flipped out. The girlfriend got me his book "Steelhead Dreams" and I'm just about done with it. It was amazing to watch him fish and to hear of his philosophy. She thinks I'm obsessed with fishing but understands. I had hear read the last half of the first chapter where he explains the feeling of persuing and finally landing that first steelhead. After that she said she totally unerstood where I'm coming from. I just posted on another one of our threads about taking a trip out there next summer for steelies!!!!

I have to agree with Hapster on the bass thing too.....It's disappointing that ESPN2 threw away some great fly fishing shows in order to bring you....."Bass Saturday"!!! What a joke. They treat the new tournament like it was March Madness....I don't even switch to ESPN2 on Saturday anymore.
