Since everyone is out on the river fishing this weekend and the board is dead, I guess I'll put in a local fishing report. I went to some Trout Management Areas this past Saturday. I got absolutely skunked at two of them, but the third one made up for the other two. I caught 18 stockers and hooked well over thirty. I love stupid trout from the hatchery. i was fishing a bead head hare's hear (size 16) and never changed my fly. The funny thing was that I actually had to jig the nymph slightly to get hits. No micro drag problems here. they wanted it faster than the current. Most of the fish were in the 9"-11" range w/ a couple pushing 12"-15". The other funny part about it was that all the fish were in one pool below a bridge. Go figure. I wonder if the stocking guys were a little lazy. all in all, it was fun day. It sure beats ice fishin' or sitting at home doing chores. :D

there's not too much that beats a great day on the local waters. i was also out this weekend, found it to be tough. it was cold and the fish were uncooperative.

Here in my neck of the woods in Pa they pull the truck up to the stream and hose them out or toss buckets of fish next to the easy access areas.... Various volunteer groups and rafting companies have offered their services to float stock 4 here 5 there over miles of the rivers and streams to no avail.

The hordes of opening week fisherman clean most of the stockers right out - which IMO is a good thing because the stockers look and are sick... Hope that latest license increase takes care of the neglected hatcheries.

Glad to hear you had a good day outdoors..
I got to slide on my arse today down a half thawed mountainside - but it felt great... Got to absorb some sunshine...
