am i losin it or is this what we do? :confused:
i found myself burning off the materials on tied flies that i don't normally use so i can reuse the hook. it's not a case of the shack nasties cuz iv'e been fishing my local waters on sats. and suns.

p.s. check out the classifieds if anyone is looking for a spinning reel? i put one in there. man, i feel like such a ho. :D

I'd say your frugal - or very bored..
Never heard of that one.
Make sure you lean back from the vise, the fumes must be nasty...

i guess bored is more like it. beers were starting to kick in as well.

Nah, alot of guys do that. I just put the hook in the vise and use a razor to cut it all off fast.

Hey hooks aren't cheap! I usually cut, but I've never tried burning...

i burned some and didn't like the way they turned out. cutting would be cleaner. for some of the thinner hooks i believe burning the material will decrease it's strength. if i need to again i will cut.

times must be gettin' tough if you have to burn your fly tying materials.... ;)
