After taking a road trip Monday from SR to Oak Orchard, *******, and a few other muddy ditches along the way, I really appreciate the Salmon River - even at 1700 cfs.

At least on the Salmon you are standing in a beautiful river, great scenery, and noone around, and you know Monster Steel is there...
And when the Big O is fishable, you have alternate water 25 miles away.

I was planning on going to the Catt later this month but I won't take the chance of driving 6 hrs to try the Catt.... If it is anything even slightly resembling the Oak - I would go ballistic and drive my vehicle into the deepest pool.

I am sooooo glad I am 200 miles from the SR ...All my winter efforts will be there...

The Oswego beats the Oak hands down... More fish and plenty of river to fish when it is fishable.

I stay away from the walls.. that is jokerland,,,if you have not fished the big O as a river to be respected, you have not fished the Big O..

I am amazed how much bantor and laughter guys have about this river. I am glad - that means they wont a serious effort into it.

That means more room at my cash$$$$$ stretch...

Never had anyone to show me any kind of Cash$$$$ stretch on the O. I have fished it about 3 times and every time it has been a snag fest even lower by the bridges. But then again, like I said I have never fished it with anybody that knows it intamately.

Maybe I will have to give it another try or 2?!?! But I will still like the Oak, it is a great "float" river!!!

Don't know how the oak gets later in the year. If the hoards of people go away it looks like it would be a good place. That place must draw alot of people - so I don't know if the crowds ever go away.. Monday was a horror story - and the drive is twice the distance for me -vs- SR.

The Oswego is a snagfest - when it is high. You have to put on so much weight that every third cast you are retying...Gets Frustrating.

I like that river when flows are 4-5000 range down by the bridges.
If you can hit the level right to use just one shot it is great fishing.

Once the levels stabilize in Oswego you can be confident that the water levels will remain in the same range for awhile...
