anyone stay here b/4? the price is right. i don't require much more than a shower and roof over the head but need it to be clean at least.

I went there once this time last year, and left, prices were cheap, but rooms had a smell I can't even begin to describe! Drift boat Inn was $35 then, and more than worth it! I would sleep in the car in freezing temps. than hit the Fish-on Again!

There is a reason they don't have any pictures of their rooms on their website. Scarry place, cheap is usually not good. Fox hollow lodge, you won't go wrong!

Fish on has a unique odor. Its a ghetto tellie in pulaski! I stayed there with a few friends before. I'm the only one of us that stayed there that is willing to stay there again. Ghetto motels dont bother me that much, i've stayed in worse than fish on...lol

The worst I've stayed at was the 81-11 motel in ***** creek, follow up by redwood in town, you could sit on the throne and brush your teeth at the same time, and you could hear all the goings on at busters next door at the time.

...2 words about FO when we "tried" to stay and then saw the rooms...freakin' disgusting. Granted it was about 4 or 5 seasons ago, but it doesn't look like things had changed much since last year.

The Redwood was pretty nice since it's been re-done as is the 1880 and Steelhead Lodge. Haven't stayed at Whitakers in about 8-years, but that was always nice (back then). If you want a real deal and are fishing the Oswego area also, get in touch with K&G Lodging in Scriba and just rent one of their furnished cabins. $35 to $40 / person and you can cook your own food right there. Yeah it's a bit out of the way, but well worth it.

K&G also has a very good restaurant, with good food and staff.

It's cheap, but remember that in life you get what you pay for. Do not walk barefoot, the shag 1970's vitage carpet harbors many sharp and sometimes sticky objects. It's a good bet if your running low on lead as the carpet is full of lead shot that the highly skilled cleaning crew can't suck into their vacuum cleaner. Last time I was there the Lady of the Manor was sporting one of the finest shiners I have ever seen. I took a picture of the decore because I knew I could not possibly describe it to my wife. The truth is that the place reallt isn't that bad if all you care about is having a place to tie up some sacs, pound a few beers, and pass out.

Stayed there once last year. Good thing there are bars within walking distance is all I can say. After some :drunks: it made it alot easier to sleep there. Will I stay there again? Never. As for the lady of the manor having a shiner, I must have stayed there around the same time unless it was a different shiner.

We stayed there this past Oct., my buddies went up the week before i did and were NOT impressed with the accomodations, and they're a bunch of rednecks!!
But all in all I thought it was ok, there really is a foul stench coming from the fish cleaning station during salmon season, also watch out for the Russian walnuts in the fall. A 50 mph wind kicked up and they started dropping hard! I ran down in my underwear to move my car!
Ive stayed in several places in and around Pulaski and 1880 House is the best, IMO.

As a person who has lived in Jersey and fished this river from the early 80's till I moved here in 2001 to Guide full time,Ive stayed at ALL of the lodge's and Motel's here in Pulaski, so I would suggest the following;
1880 House is THE finest Bed/breakfast in the area!! Whitaker's ,The Driftboat Inn,The Double Eagle, Fox Hollow and Salmon Heaven and Malinda's (if you're catch/release).
For larger groups that can book a year in Advance (or be lucky and get a cancellation) the Douglaston Salmon Run Lodge's are AWESOME!! Plus you get to fish the DSR as they include the Daily passes(saving you $25 per person)
A couple of buck's a night saved SHOULD NOT be your sole criteria!!!
Tight Lines,
George

If your looking for cheap basic and clean, at least the last time I was there. Try Brenda's Motel in Pineville. A few years ago they had a steelhead special about $35.00.

Super 8 also. More $, but it's clean & the tv works.
Stayed @ Rainbow Shores once. Cheap, but there was virtually no tv.
The bunk beds were fassioned out of 2x4's& plywood I belive. I didn't care, I just wanted to fish & it was $26 a nite. I'd go there again if need be, but it's way out by the estuary.

Brendas is ok if your a little guy the rooms are small and the bunk beds if your closterphobic wont be a good thing.

Stayed at Super 8 a few times, real clean and nice >))>

I agree, Deer Creek is a good place to stay, especially if you're bringing a boat up because the parking area is huge. The only downside for me is that I'm allergic to something in that place. Every time I sleep in the beds there my eyes start itching and watering like crazy.

All of this talk about Pulaski's "finest" lodging reminds me of another place in the area. It's The Willows Campground on Route 3 outside of Henderson Harbor. New owners took it over in the last year or so, but the old owners had a real interesting place there. One of the cabins that we stayed in had a closet with a sign that said "DO NOT OPEN!" and there was a chair wedged under the doorknob to keep the door from opening. There was definitely a family of birds living in the closet because every morning I could hear the parents coming to feed the babies in the nest. I guess they got in through a hole in the wall. Another night I heard some aninmal scratching on the closet door that had to be a raccoon or skunk or something of decent size. Needless to say, we never opened the door and never stayed in that cabin again.

I feel for ya, they have cats that are free roaming. The one cat came in our room and hung with us the whole weekend (good cat ) My kids thought that that was the greatest thing lol.

fish on is kind of nasty but its a roof and warm. We stayed above pizza place in pulaski a couple years ago, windows wouldnt close and little to no hot water. We slept in as many clothes as we could put on.

You could take all the stories you guys told and send them to Field & Stream. They would definitely print them. I was laughing out loud at for the last three minute or so...
