In-Depth Weather Analysis For Labor Day Weekend On The Salmon River – From Meteorologist Matt DiNardo

Well fall is here, at least unofficially, as Labor Day weekend is upon us. That can only mean one thing, the breaking of rods and lines in the Salmon River with the rush of Kings, Hos and Steel. The weather can play an important role in triggering or not triggering a run and our weather is very active as we head into September, we have three tropical systems and a very strong cold front on the maps.

Alot of you are well aware of the agreement in place with Brookfield Renewable Power. As long as we are not in emergency situations like drought or a low reservoir the river water level must be run at a minimum of 335 CFS. The timeline for that agreement officially starts tonight.

They Are In And They Are BIG!

Got quite a few reports from yesterday. It seems as if the cooler temps and rain has started to move the mass of kings and cohos closer to the river. Some of the action in the Lake has chilled a bit. With all of this going on it has started a nice early run of kings and cohos. I got word from member 'Carpy' this morning that he was already 0 for 8 mid-river after having quite a few cohos scream his reel. Either he is having some equiptment malfunction or those cohos are fast like lightning.
