Well I was hoping based off of the lack of updates to the Flowcast, but it looks like we are at 100CFS till next Monday. The current 5-day forecast has us high and dry till Sunday. Looks like colder nights by the time Sunday rolls around. Well we need to make the best of things. The DSR has reported back-to-back great days for kings and ‘hos. One can only assume that the fish are getting antsy to make thier run. Although it may be a zoo this weekend, the fishing will probably be better than last. Head over to the forums to check out some low water techniques. A hat order is in the near future as I am just wrapping up discussion with a new vendor. I will keep you posted.

Fishing continues to get better as we draw closer to a main run. The fish are still quite thick in the estuary and the boys are still catching them out at the break walls. During my trip up the SR last weekend I headed up to the hatchery and the reservoir. I was somewhat taken back to see only about 60 or so fish in the ladders and Beaver Brook. I would also say about 98 percent of them were fresh Cohos from the run last Wednesday. There were only a handful of kings which means only one thing to me… later salmon run. With the estuary being loaded up and small runs here and there we may have good fishing in to the end of October.
The DSR is reporting a good number of Kings and Cohos the last few days so we could be seeing the beginning of the major part of the run. Not to sound the alarm to all you fishermen out there but I think something is up with the water flow. The flowcast was due to update today for the next cycle and mysteriously they only updated it till tomorrow. I highly doubt it but maybe there is a treat in store for us this weekend… only time will tell. Stay tuned I will be the first to report it here if there is an update.
Check out the nice shot of Autumn Angler. Nice job!

After talking to our resident metorologist ‘MattyD’ last night, he informed me that the Pulaski area may be getting between 1″ to 1.5″ of rain through Saturday. This may be the start of something beautiful.
I know we are all doing the rain dance, lets just hope that this continues to be a recurring trend. My gang and I are heading north at 2am Friday. I will have a full report on Monday. The DSR is reporting a major coho run has just entered the river. I will keep you guys posted.

Today is the start of a new era and a celebration 18 years past. SalmonCrazy was a idea that was spawned from the love of the sport of salmon fishing on the Lake Ontario tributaries. My dad began by taking me North when I was around 12 years old. I am 30 now, married with a beautiful wife a nice house and my trusty sidekick Bailey. Never would I have thought that the bug that my dad gave me nearly 18 years ago would have turned into what is the present day SalmonCrazy Nation.
We have come a long way baby… back in 2002 I got this great idea to start a small site to publish my photos of my trips to Pulaski. Well one thing led to another, and another, and another… and here we are. 2007 is the 5 year anniversary of SalmonCrazy and to mark that anniversary I am rolling out a finely tuned new version of the site. To some it may just be a facelift… but alas the devil is in the details. Behind the scenes SC Nation is now a finely tuned machine. Running on the latest and also customized content management system and forum backbone available. Everything has been rebuilt with the notion of a steady roll-out of features in the coming weeks. First you will see the facelift and the new features and look of the forum, but before long our robust gear reviews will be rolled out. We have also been partnering with vendors for some fun stuff in the near future. Its an exciting time for me and the staff and I am glad you guys are along for the ride.
Lastly, just so you guys can get a feel for how we’ve grown in 2003 we had 7690 unique visitors for the year, in 2004 we had 34253, 2005 brought a steady uptick at 83,510, 2006 was 93325 and lastly I wouldn’t have believed it had I just now checked it… with 3 months left for the year 2007 SalmonCrazy.com has seen 102,853 unique visitors cross its doors. Well everyone we truely are a ‘Nation’ now. Stand proud, Yell FISH ON! and May Your Lines Be Tight And Nets Heavy!
Welcome to SalmonCrazy 2.0
