SalmonCrazy Rules and Member Guidelines

We have implemented the following guide for using our forums. This guide is designed to strike a balance between the main goal of our forums, providing a fishing resource, and keeping the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of our community which has made our site so popular.

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules. They are here for a reason. They are not up for interpretation, discussion, or debate. They are final and enforced. You agree, through your use of the forum and chat services, that you will abide by this set of forum rules. Please take the time to carefully read and understand this Code of Conduct. Non-compliance may result in temporary or permanent revocation of your access to the forums and chat channels. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the staff members. These are the rules you agreed to, and signed (or will have to sign for new members) when you ticked the "I agree to the rules" box when you registered.

They are in effect and can be revised at any time. The date of the last update will be noted below. You are responsible for checking these rules often to ensure you have read the latest copy:

General Forum Rules and Code of Conduct:

1. You agree that while you retain copyright to any images you upload or attach to posts, that you allow us to publish them in any form we may choose. Whether it be on another of our web sites, partner sites, or in print form. Further, you also agree to allow us to assume ownership of the images by relocating them to our own server to prevent disruption of image linkage in the event of your leaving the site, or your offsite image host breaking the links to images you attach to posts here. Should you leave the site, or cancel your membership here, you agree to allow us to continue to host and publish your images indefinitely. You are in effect, giving us unlimited license to publish and retain your content indefinitely.

2. It is forbidden to register accounts with usernames that are offensive or created with intent to cause disruption to the forums. Any accounts of this nature will be prevented from posting and be sent a request by a staff member for a replacement username. Posting privileges will be restored upon the completion of the name change.

3. Attempting to breach forum security or gain unauthorized access into user accounts. This includes the action of guessing passwords, successful or not. Assisting others with such attempts also constitutes a violation. You are responsible for the security of your password and confidential personal account information. You are also responsible for any posts made from your account, regardless of who made that post. Any rule-violating posts made from your account may result in the suspension of your account. If it is determined that a hacker gained access to your account because of a security breach on the part of SalmonCrazy.com your account will be reinstated as soon a possible.

4. You agree that ANY content posted by you becomes the property of SalmonCrazy.com and that it may be used in any way we see fit. You are in effect, giving us unlimited license to publish and retain your content indefinitely.

5. You agree to maintain a valid email address at all times. You agree to accept any and all emails sent to you with the intent of communication between SalmonCrazy.com and its members.

6. Spamming, and trolling are not allowed. This includes using the forum email and private message system to spam other members.

7. Any private message that a member feels violates the rules stated here should be forwarded to a staff member. Disciplinary action regarding such private messages is at discretion of the SalmonCrazy.com staff.

8. Private Messaging is provided to the members of SalmonCrazy.com as a service intended to enhance the community experience. The purpose of private messaging is to allow for discreet conversations to take place between members. This privilege is not to be abused! Solicitation, spamming, or harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden. Any member receiving an inappropriate private message should forward that message to an Administrator or Moderator right away. Private messages are part of the database and as such, the property of SalmonCrazy. We reserve the right to investigate any possible abuses of the private messaging system and will do so only if we are made aware of or are under suspicion of any violations of SalmonCrazy.com's rules and/or Code of Conduct. This is our home, you are our guests, and we expect everyone to behave accordingly.

9. The posting of anyone's personal information without their visibly posted and express consent is prohibited.

10. While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks, threats or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.

11. Personal attacks are strictly prohibited. Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts which are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated.

12. Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts and the like.

13. Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.

14. Please wait a reasonable amount of time before bumping posts.

15. Impersonating another forum user, moderator, volunteer, administrator or SalmonCrazy.com staff member is strictly prohibited. You are expressly forbidden from impersonating anyone else, including those named above, on the forum, even in jest. This may be grounds for permanent loss of your SalmonCrazy.com account.

16. We do not allow posts that are overtly sexual in nature or violate our community standards. Staff shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

17. Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.

18. Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.

19. We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.

20. This is an English speaking forum hosted in the United States. No foreign language posting will be allowed.

21. While these rules try to cover most common situations, we cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

22. We reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates theses forum rules.

23. SalmonCrazy.com reserves the right to change or alter these rules at any time and an Administrator's word is final.

Spam, Advertising, Commercial Vendors and Forum Sponsorship

1. Spamming or commercial solicitation of any kind will not be tolerated on this site. This includes company names within user names and links to commercial sites within your profile or signature. We reserve the right to delete any post that is deemed in violation of the commercial posting rules.

2. Selling of individual items is permissible by private parties in the Classifieds forum only. However, selling multiple quantities of the same product is considered a commercial endeavor, and these types of posts will be removed at the discretion of the Staff.

3. Messages promoting a commercial entity that is not a site sponsor may be deleted at any time at the discretion of the Staff. Occasional posts helping a fellow member to find a commercial vendor that has what he/she needs may be allowed.

4. If these posts are viewed by the Staff to be commercial promotion (by a vendor, affiliated party, or un-affiliated party) they may be deleted. This decision is based on many criteria and may differ based on the actual staff member that makes the judgment call. Users are encouraged to report posts that are in violation of these policies.

5. Commercial Advertising is not allowed! - Unless you are a supporting vendor, or site sponsor. It is always better to inquire first, than try to advertise first.

6. Advertising your web site, community site, picture hosting site, community website, or any other type of web site is not allowed unless you are a site sponsor.

7. Posting links to blogs are acceptable as long as the blog is personal in nature and is not in any way affiliated with a vendor.

8. Posting threads, sending private messages or emails to members here to advertise or solicit any products, services, other forums and communities, funds or donations is strictly prohibited. Explicit advertising and or solicitation in signatures is also prohibited. Please see the section on signatures below.

9. You may not post advertisements or notices for contests without being a "Supporting Vendor" or with expressed permission from the SalmonCrazy.com staff.

10. You agree that should you purchase an elevated membership of ANY KIND, or donate funds to the forum, that you are still bound by our forum rules. Should you violate the rules, and are banned as a result; you agree to forfeit any and all funds provided to us for said membership!

Signatures:

1. Links to retail and vendor websites are not allowed unless first approved by the mod staff and you are a supporting vendor.

2. A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) that compete with our forum network, sponsors or affiliates is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate our community standards. Staff shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

3. Duplicate links to the same URL in a signature are not allowed.

4. Signatures that are in violation of the ‘spirit’ of the General Rules or Commerical and Spam rules are not permitted.

5. Graphic, text based or animated signatures must abide by the guidelines listed here.

Avatars:

1. Avatars that may be confused with official staff avatars are not allowed.

2. Avatars that are obscene, racial or sexual in nature will be removed and a warning issued at the discretion of the staff.

3. Any avatar that is of a threatening manner to other users is not permitted.

4. Avatars that are used to advertise or spam is not allowed. Please refer to the rules on commercial vendors, spam and advertising above to check what is deemed acceptable.

In closing while the administrators and moderators will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages.

All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners, salmoncrazy.com nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message on this forum.
