I saw in the river this april what looked like a 3 lb carp picked to shreds by sea gulls mid-river back in late april. I wont name the spot because I dont want to spot burn potential carp grounds.

But really? Carp? In the salmon? Or could it have been a sucker on steroids?

Most likely a sucker unless you noticed big scales laying about. I have seen some go 18"+ in there.

Why would carp not be in the Salmon river ? I think that they inhabit all major rivers.

There is a carp run in the summer. I used to catch a lot of them down low back in the day when my buddies and i would sneak into the dsr from the black hole. By back in the day i mean 89 - 92.

I caught one in late October a bunch of years ago in the DSR, Jumped twice...thought it was a nice brown at first. My friends still bust my nuggets over that one. I think I have a pic of it somewhere.

They run the river and streams to spawn and it looks like 2012 is going to be a banner year. looking forward to catching alot this Sun Mon and Tue in a 50hr catch and release tournament on the Seneca River. The fish move up the river, out of Onondaga lake, to the lock in Baldwinsville.

45, 2 man team format, with a peg draw for bank space. Big $$$ and Big names from all over the US, fishing for the Worlds Greatest Sportfish.

All I can say is......It was unbelievable. This year we joined 4 other teams to form "Team Packbait". Our team Kent and I, had a crappy peg draw and we were stuck in the middle of a long stretch of featureless water. Our fearless leader Mr Tom Brooks, Said, " Boys don't worry, I finished 3rd from that stretch 4 years ago" he said, "just be patient and stick to the program". well we took the his advice and called him whenever we needed assistance.

We took 2nd place overall. with 800lbs.
We beat our other team by by 15lbs who ended up in third place as well as 1st place in the Biggest 4 fish category.
One of our other teams took the Biggest Mirror prize.
Combined our team won just under $8,000.

To all the Euro Carp fishing teams out there, This was just a start and "Team Packbait" is for real. American Made and proud of it. lol
