News, Reports and Conditions

I just got the report confirmed from our ace source in the lower river. There are a large numbers of king salmon beginning to congregate near the rt3 bridge. The DSR was reporting some a few kings here and there today, but as dusk settle I got a call from a good friend informing me he was down at the bridge and it was starting to fill up.

Knowing my source, I feel more than confident to say the first pods are starting to enter the river. Welcome to the Salmon Run 2009!!!

Looking at the forecast for the next 5 days it looks to be in the 40s the next two nights nad then return to the 50s. With the river still running at 425 CFS at Pineville and with a gate (750 CFS) planned for this upcoming Labor Day weekend look for some early action this weekend and next week. Don’t expect a motherload but there will be some fish to tangle with.

All in all it looks like our planning of SummerFest worked out pretty darn good as all of our attendees should have some decent early season action next weekend.

Stay tuned here as we will always bring you the latest and the greatest from the 2009 salmon run.
