It seems mother nature likes giggle or she has an odd sense of humor. Last year at this time the Pulaski area was in a major drought and the reservoir that pushes the flow of the Salmon River was but a mere puddle. Well fast forward to 2008 and it’s like a complete 180 degree difference. [...]

Just got word from down low that a new run of cohos are on the move. There are quite a few kings mixed in and even some Browns and Steel! Reports from all sources say fishing has been good this week from top to bottom. We have had quite a few reports of 'a day made for kings' lately from many of our members, so the numbers are good for this very early 2008 season.

It looks like the recent temperature drops and rain has made our finned friends start to push the river. The DSR has just updated its report this am. It looks as thought the first big push of fish has entered the lower river. This first big push is full of kings and cohos. This looks to be [...]

Got a mixed bag of reports this weekend. Anything from tough fishing on the lake to decent fishing on the lake. Then you talk to the river angler and you hear it was hot or it was not. The run is still coming! There are fish everywhere, you just have to work a little harder. [...]

We got quite a few reports in today and yesterday that the early coho runs are starting. Seems as if they started around Wednesday and are still continuing today. As most of you know the cohos run fast and run hard. Sometimes make it from bottom to top in a single day. If you can find one of those miraculous days where you hit the early coho runs just right it can be the day of a lifetime. They tend fight hard and fight often. Take the time to watch the reports forum here and the news and you can catch it just right. They are spread out in the river now with a fresh push coming this am.

Got quite a few reports from yesterday. It seems as if the cooler temps and rain has started to move the mass of kings and cohos closer to the river. Some of the action in the Lake has chilled a bit. With all of this going on it has started a nice early run of kings and cohos. I got word from member 'Carpy' this morning that he was already 0 for 8 mid-river after having quite a few cohos scream his reel. Either he is having some equiptment malfunction or those cohos are fast like lightning.

Well another SummerFest is in the books and all I can say is Wow! It was a lot of work putting it together so first all my thanks goes to the staff for helping make this a success, from Stonefly and Craydaddy working the raffle prizes and Derby to Finman for coordinating the location, meal and tent. Without those guys you wouldn't have had such a great 'Fest this year.

Thanks to the sleuth work of ChaChing we just got an important update on the record coho saga. According to the updated report, the DEC has ruled that both of the record breaking cohos this past week were actually King Salmon! That’s is correct. Kings. They are both still huge salmon, however we wanted to correct [...]
