Hatchery Egg Collection Update

From what I am hearing the hatchery is closing in on 2 million eggs. Still far short of the 3.5 million they need. I wish I had better news to report. I am not quite sure how everyone can help out, but I put in a word at the hatchery if help is needed I’d be more than happy to get the word out for them. I know the guys are working hard up there doing everything they can to help reach thier goal. If anything, just lend them your support and thank these guys when you seem them. It seems to be a thankless job for putting the time in to make every season on the Salmon River memorable for all of us fishermen. Thanks guys and gals we appreciate all you do.

One of te things they are doing at 18 Mis testing the pathology of these eggs (for disease etc) and so they are keeping the the SR Eggs and the 18 Mile Creek eggs separated until the pathology test results come back on the 18M eggs in 3 or so weeks, Thuis means they have reduced their target number for this year and it is now 2.2 million, They were at 1.8 M as of thursday. We’re hoping between today and saturday (approx 200k each day) we can meet their new quota and put a fork in the egg collection at 18 Mile.
